I do most of my shopping at Aldi because it is the cheapest. I still have to go to WM for the random stuff Aldi doesn't carry. We are getting a Meijer. How do the prices compare between Meijer and Aldi?? I'd love to only shop at one place and never enter WM again.

Oh my gosh, I LOVE Meijer, it's my main store, however, there are some things that I still buy at Aldi, eggs (sometimes if not on sale anywhere else) produce that is on sale, gf pasta, sometimes meat that is on sale.  I Love Meijer sales though, I stock up on things and also, make sure you get an MPerks account.

For instance, this is my shopping from last week taken from the spending thread:

Dollar Tree-2 large containers of bkeach, 2 pkg rubber gloves, 2 pcks taco shells, 1 pkg Brilli sponges,1 can cooking spray, 1 plastic storage basket. $9.42 oop.
Walmart-1 pair jeans for dh & clearance candles for .12 each (4) $21.38 oop.
Aldi- 1 pkg rice cakes, 2 bags flour, 1 bag onions, 1 large container clearance sprinkles (will keep for next Christmas) .79 $6.35 oop.

Fresh Thyme: Nutritional yeast $1.10, 2 dozen eggs 2/$3 sale & got a rain check for 4 more at that price, 2 pkgs. Bob's Red Mill products, 10 lbs. potatoes, 4 1/2 pounds chicken breasts on sale for $1.47/lb. Spent $21.05 oop.

Ok, I thought I had another Meijer thread, there were some sales a few weeks ago that were really good and I got salad dressing (24 oz) for .75 a bottle after coupons and Kraft Mayo cheap as well.  I'll keep looking for it.  Their 10/$10 get the 11th item free sales are good on some things as well.

Ok, here's what I bought the one good sale week: Yesterday I hit some sales at the grocery store and got 2 Silk Cashew milk & 3 gallons regular milk, 5 Kraft 24 oz salad dressing, sale of $1.49 if you bought 8 items on the sale list & had  4.75 off coupons, 3 Kraft Mayo $1.99 with the buy 8 sale and had .55 coupons.  Bob's Red Mill potato starch sale of $3.41 and had $1 coupon (I contacted BRM and they sent me 6 $1 off any coupons) 1 Lindt chocolate bar (the only kind that I can eat 85% cocoa, splurge there and I had $4 in Mperks for previous spending, so I spent $21.38 oop.  The dressings should last most of the year, I am big believer in stocking up when prices are low.

I like Meijer. They have a lot of organic and ethnic things that are more expensive or harder to find at other stores.  I really detest WM and will do whatever it takes to spend my money elsewhere.  I live in a town that has a WM but I drive 30 minutes to shop at Costco and Meijer.  Meijer is comparable to WM in prices for the most part.  They have a coupon club type thing for digital coupons and it if you "clip" the savings, it tracks your spending and you get a mobile coupon for an upcoming shopping trip.  Sometimes groceries are 5% off on specific days.  But you have to remember to "clip" the coupon and enter your Meijer Perks number at checkout.

Meijer is not nearly as cheap as Aldi, so I don't do the bulk of my shopping there.  It is so much more pleasant to shop there than at Walmart though, so I'd recommend getting Walmart things at Meijer instead.  Meijer tends to have way more lanes open so the checkout line is a heck of a lot shorter than at walmart.

The selection at Meijer is fantastic.  The produce is good, they have a lot of specialty health-food items (like gluten-free), but it's not terribly cheap.  Our budget goes out of control when I do a week's worth of shopping there.

This is exactly what I do.  My Meijer's is right down the street from Aldi so I take my list to Aldi first and then go to Meijer for the rest of the stuff.  Our Aldi's produce is getting better but I normally get better deals at Meijers, as well as fresher produce.

Meijer is a much nicer atmosphere than Walmart and if I shop the sales I do as well or better than Walmart.  Meijer now has Mperks which is an app where you can "clip" coupons and also work towards rewards which give you money off.  I wish there was a way to just clip all the coupons into my card all at one time or a way to work toward all the rewards without having to "start" them so that annoys me but I've put it into my routine to just go in and clip on Sunday afternoon that way it's all set up for the week.

Meijer is more like a cross between Walmart and Target. Ours isn't very convenient but their produce is good compared to my other options and they have more ethnic foods. If I'm looking for a certain spice they are much more likely to have it than Kroger or Walmart.

I find their prices to be more similar to Kroger than Walmart but I know there are good deals to be had. I know some people just love Meijer but we have two stores and and it seems like it always takes forever to get through the checkout lane.

One reason I like Aldi is that it is so small, I'm out in 30 minutes. The Meijer they are building is insane. So big!!

Before I moved away from them both (sob, sob) I did as Jan OH above--shopped first at Aldi, than to Meijer, which was down the road about 5 mins.  Meijer sale items were often less expensive than Aldi reg. prices, so I did always look at the paper, and tried to use Mperks too.  Aldi  got better over time regarding offering organic items, but Meijer had much nicer produce, and organic was relatively cheap compared to other places that sold organic.  Meijer has items that Aldi doesn't carry.  Meijer was large and clean, and Aldi less so.

I stay out of WM if I can. I just learned yesterday that Target price matches for the same item, and took advantage of that (though not for grocery item).

Thanks for the tips!  The Aldi's is only 2 years old and not far from the HUGE Meijer's they are building ( Right next to Menards)

I will try to get the App.

I usually go to Kroger's, Big Lots, and WM if I have to.  I like the Kroger points to save on gas too.

The Meijer's is supposed to be opening in May.  I am excited!

Look out for the red-orange tags on things that are on clearance (more for clothing and non-grocery goods).  There is also a small section someplace in that store for clearance items in the pharmacy area and one in the rest of the store.  Great deals can be had there!

I am a bit strange.... I avoid Meijers as much as I can. We have a nice one across the road from our Walmart. I will choose Walmart 49 out of 50 times. Our Walmart is clean, not nearly as busy as Meijers and cheaper.

Meijers has a bit "higher class" feel to it and a larger selection but higher prices. They are also much busier than Walmart.

I don't like the mperks and other hassles to get the best price/coupons etc. because if I forget then I end up paying a much higher price. I like Walmart for cheaper prices and they will price match.

I shop for groceries about 75% of the time at Aldi, about 23% of the time at Walmart and just a very rare trip into Meijer to.get what the other 2 stores don't have.
