We have a 3 yo Great Pyr. He's been very sick with erlichia and somehow had a tear in his lungs that caused his lungs to fill with fluid. He's been to the vet a few times to drain them. He was doing better till last Saturday when he tangled with some coyotes that got in the sheep Saturday killing a few lambs. Yesterday at the vets, we found that his lungs are filled with blood. We believe that the coyote fight ruptured whatever was healing in there. They drained him, but this morning he's much worse. My dh got him into the garage and I don't think he has much longer with us.

Think of us. He's a very sweet dog and it hurts awfully.

:grouphug:  I'm so sorry. I just left Jessie, our 6 yo lab, at the vet hospital. She became horribly sick during the night and it turns out she has gotten into D-con. There is an antidote but she had a seizure last night leading them to believe she may have bleeding in the brain which would be fatal. Just the thought is horrible. You will definitely be in my thoughts. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Oh no.   :grouphug:   Glad he got to die surrounded by his family.  "Dog Heaven" by Cynthia Rylant is a wonderful book if you have little ones.  (Heck, I liked it as an adult.)
