After using a bound planner for years (grocery store, Erin Condren and the Inkwell Press), I made the switch to Filofax this year and I love it! I'm working in a purple, personal size Malden. I've always been a list maker so being able make lists and move them around is great! Plus, I've gotten into decorating it which is a creative outlet I enjoy. But, dang, a girl could go broke quick!

What planner are you using for 2016?

I started a new bullet journal for 2016.  This year I picked a magenta softcover moleskine.  Last year I hated having to draw out the grid calendar every month (listing the dates just does not work for me) but I bucked down & drew out all 12 months in the front of my journal so that's finished for the whole year! I need to migrate a couple pages over, but I'm up and running!

I've been doing a bullet journal for years now before I even knew it was a "thing" or called a bullet journal. But I really was getting burned out and wanted a pre-made planner so I ordered a Happy Planner. They were half price since 6 months are wasted so I thought it was a good way to try it without forking over the full price. I am hoping it's here by Friday. I am so anxious to get it!

I just started bullet journaling with a Leuchtturm too, and so far I really like it. I still do a bunch of things on my phone (events/meetings/appointments go on a Google calendar that's immediately visible on my home screen, grocery shopping list is on an app), but for streamlining my days, brain dumping, and single-purpose, ongoing lists like books I want to read or, say, things to get done before Christmas guests arrive, my bullet journal is working really well.

I love just about everything about my Leuchtturm, but I wish the paper was just a little thicker. I haven't yet found anything that rivals it in terms of factors that matter more (size, color, sturdiness of cover), though, so I think I'll be sticking with it.

I wish my journal was more colorful, but I'm not artistic AT ALL, so it's pretty much just me and my quirky handwriting. I did do all the month grids at the front of the book, but that was really just for reference. I haven't used the monthly events page at all, so I think I'm going to be dropping that. My Google calendar just really works too well to start messing with that part of the system!

The really funny thing is that DH, who generally just rolls his eyes at my newest organizational endeavors, did roll his eyes a little at this. And then the next week, he asked me to pick him up some notebooks he'd seen at BJ's so he could start his own journal. The next thing I knew, he was bogarting my pens and making all kinds of grids and sections and a key... He's found it incredibly effective for coordinating his crazy work responsibilities.

Can someone point me to something that isn't huge (can fit in a decent sized purse), spiral bound, has monthly and weekly pages, and has monthly tabs? I'm using the Momma's Little Helper Dayplanner right now, but want something with tabs. Space to make lists/write notes is good too.

Filofax with pages I designed and print to keep track of classwork I have to do, exams, etc, along with household chores in personal size. I have several binders so change them out as the mood strikes. It stays open on my computer table. I have an A5 that keeps things like health info on son, books to get, course records..that sort of thing that I don't look at every day. Both of the FF's stay at home. I have a Leuchtterm dot grid notebook that stays in my backpack for noting random things while I am out and about. This way my Filofaxes don't get beaten up in my backpack and I have something handy for noting things on the go. The Leuchtterm is also pretty light which is good in the backpack.

I'm using a combo... Google calendar for the big picture, and a Create 365 planner for my "top 3" to do list and daily blessing list. It's working great so far. At night I check google for the next day, jot my top 3s down and bling up the planner with stickers and markers. It's part journal part planner. I love it!

I prefer Conceptum over Leuchtturm for a couple of reasons and will stick with it next time I need a new one, but the paper is pretty much the same.

Hello from another Malden personal user.  :seeya:  Mine is named Dr. Jones (as in Indiana Jones), and I adore him. He goes everywhere with me. I've always used the Filofax inserts, but I might change it up this year.

At home, I like to have the larger space for my daily lists, so I use IHeartOrganizing planner. It has my daily to-do's and meal plan. Dr. Jones is for my out-of-the-house activities.

I'm using a Hobonichi Techo Japanese planner this year.  The paper is really nice and I love the format of montly, weekly, and daily pages.  I got my order in a week from Japan.

I bought a hobonichi as well for the first time. I love it so much! I've recently gotten into fountain pens and the paper is a dream. I got the A6 so it's smaller and so adorable and portable but enough room for to do lists and all the doodling and decorating I want. :)

Ok, I know I'm a major geek getting this excited about a planner. ;) But oh well, I love it.

My planner came yesterday!!! I was shocked they sent it priority mail for some reason. I checked my order and I did not select that, nor did I pay for that but that's what happened and it got me my planner 4 days early. Score!

I love that I can set up the order of pages the way I want. I set up a couple grid sheets in front of January and transfered my budget for the month and expense tracking there. I really don't want to go back and forth between several different forms of planners. I want a catch-all.

The only thing I am not loving is the monthly dashboard. It's set up with the headings: Birthdays, Goals, Special Events, Important Dates, and Don't Forget. To me special events and important dates are the same thing. And wouldn't a birthday qualify as both a special event and an important date? It's just not the way my mind works. I covered one title with washi and am going to try it for January but if it continues to frustrate me, I'll washi a whole page of grid paper over it next month.

After years of using my Outlook calendar and a simple purple notebook, I'm trying a Passion Planner this year....and right now, I'm not sure it's going to work for me. I need to keep notes and thoughts and lists in my notebook....and appointments in my calendar. I thought I could do both in the PP...but the layout isn't quite what I thought it would be. The Passion Planner is well made and has a lot going for it.

I'm wishing I'd done a bullet journal because I can customize it and carry it with me more.

Decisions, decisions...

I'm using a bullet journal with a dotted Moleskine. I found a daily layout that has lots of open space so I felt comfortable creating the entire year since it would be versatile enough. So now it feels like a regular planner/journal but it's pretty and perfect :)

I'm using the Ashley Shelley planner from Etsy, and omg I love it so much.  It's pretty, the pages are nice and thick and don't bleed, and it checks all your boxes.

I'm using a Midori traveler's notebook. I have several different inserts including a weekly personal page with a section for dumping lists. I have a weekly specifically for school where I put in due dates and such. Another is a yearly calendar and another is a long-term projects and goals insert. I like the flexibility of the Midori and the size doesn't take up too much space in my school bag.

I couldn't get the bullet journal to work for me so I am using an EC and a Kikki-K (yes I go back and forth :))

I do use a lot of what I learned from the bullet journal in my planning though, especially at work. I started a separate Moleskin squared notebook for student matters. I keep attendance in it and results. I also make notes in it about conversations with students and disciplinary actions. When I have made 3 notes about students I move them to a page of their own. I also keep a page about funny things students say. And of course it has an index.

The rifle planner I have has a similar set up to this, and it's on sale right now.  The pages are thin, but they don't bleed with my pilot g2's.

I had never heard of these. Thanks!

Looking at them on the website made realize how much I hate looking at my planner. At the end of last year I tried taping art work to various places in my planner. Better, but not ideal. I wish I could find the right mix of aesthetics and usefulness...  I seem to go back and forth from one to the other each year I buy a new planner...although sometimes I buy a new one after 6 months...this year might be after 6 days...

Franklin Covey had the perfect planner for about 3 years, then they discontinued it.
