JanetC
DD is uploading artwork. There is a yes/no box as to whether the work is a "representative work"... What does that mean?
JanetC
Found it: the representative work is the one that will be printed out for the committee. The others are just viewed online.
TechWife
What is the purpose of the portfolio? What, exactly, does the comment say? Representational art is something that represents real life - an object or event. Do they mean for her to upload a piece that is representational for them to print and look at more closely or do they mean for her to choose a piece that best represents a her skill in a particular medium? This is an article ds found helpful, although he did not apply to an art school, he is an industrial design student at a university. His portfolio review happens during his sophomore year, so he hasn't presented formally yet. Edited January 4, 2016 by TechWife
Laurel-in-CA
so maybe I'm too late to the party, but for dd she had to make sure her portfolio represented a number of different media: pencil, charcoal, pen, watercolor, acrylic or oil, 3D as well as 2D (show in photos), mixed media.
