My4arrows
I am teaching my 2 DS (3rd and 1st) some Greek and Latin roots to help them learn vocabulary. I found some great interactive notebook items to use with them to help them understand the meanings. Is this type of learning enough at this age group or should I also be using worksheets (covering the roots?) that work on the meaning of vocabulary words (ie. fill in the blank, match the word to its meaning, etc.)
desertflower
I think it depends on the child. I would try this out and check after about 3 weeks or so. Whatever you feel comfortable with.
Kerileanne99
Have you seen the Rummy Roots card games? You can play it at an entry level as a Go-Fish style game where you match the root with its meaning. My dd6 has learned many, many roots and this game has been very helpful to her:)
Kiara.I
I don't actually think that worksheets are helpful for most kids. They might be, I guess. But repeated exposure in different contexts seems to work better than "fill in the blank" items.
