bettyandbob
I looked at this in Netflix because I was curious. I saw listed through my email service too. Why would someone watch a log burn on their TV. Why would someone watch that on their tablet, laptop or phone. I don't get it.
wintermom
Some people put it on as there is Christmas music playing, along with the fireplace effect. It's been on satellite channels for years.
Tangerine
It has a very sweet history. I put one on during our Christmas party because it's kitschy.
Tangerine
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yule_Log_(TV_program) The origin story is on there.
Chrysalis Academy
My 9 year old loves it. She has had it going for 3 days now. We are cutting her off tomorrow! I don't really see the appeal myself, but it seems harmless and it makes her happy.
bettyandbob
Ok. The thing I pulled up on Netflix was just a log burning with crackling noises, no music. I guess with traditional Christmas music it would be nice background. What I saw had no music. I joked to dd about getting some marshmallows to wave at the tv. Renthead Mommy
Netflix has three options. One was the crackling fire, one was the christmas music and I don't remember what the third. It's been around on regular tv for decades. Our fireplace isn't working. I told the landlord to not worry about it and not let it get in the way of his holiday and deal with it in Jan. We could use the yule log for Christmas morning. We've run it in the background during parties because it was would have been too warm to run the fireplace. hmvaughan4
It's on one of the Hallmark channels too. I watched it for 20 minutes before realizing it wasn't a movie. It happened to be on that channel when I turned on the tv for my boys and they had a blast making up commentary for the cat and dog. (There's a cat and dog that sit by the fire on the hallmark channel). It was hilarious to listen to them.
smstjohn
We had it it on last night with some Christmas music for fun. You don't exactly want a real fire going when it's eighty degrees outside, but you still want to pretend it's chilly for Christmas and listening to songs about sleighs and snow!

ThisIsTheDay
We had it on for the first time today! It's a tradition for us to have a fire every Christmas. But we're having record breaking temps and slept with the windows open last night. I remembered seeing the Netflix fire a few nights ago when looking at options. I chose the one with the music. We played Episodes 1 and 2. I just wish the guy had a cleaner fireplace, lol. It was a perfect fire. It was easy to start. and it never ran out of wood. scoutingmom
We use it, or have used the one on cable some years. We don't have a fireplace. We use the one without music if the music would be destracting or if we want to play our own music. We use the one with music if we want music without the hassle of picking music. swellmomma
When we lived in the city and had cable I often had the Christmas log going on tv during the day. We did not have a fire place for real so the kids liked this one. It had the crackling fire sounds with it and on Christmas day they played Christmas music on it. My kids did their school work at their desks in the livingroom next to the tv and the crackling gave a nice white noise for the background to work by. It seems weird but it worked. I don't know how it works in the US, but here it played all day for the month of december on a rarely used channel.
