carriede
I am a people pleaser. But the Hive has taught me about watching out for myself, my family, and trusting my instincts. So just now my mom made a request of me regarding her fiance, whom I've met exactly once. My gut instinct was to respond NO WAY, even though there's nothing outrageous/dangerous about it. Instead of freaking out or giving in (which I also have a STRONG impulse to do to avoid conflict), I asked myself, What Would the Hive Do? I was able to temporarily deflect the request and pass the bean dip so I have an opportunity to discuss this with DH later. So thank you, everyone! I have a feeling I am overreacting a bit, but at least now I have time to talk to DH before giving a permament answer. :)

athomeontheprairie
Yay! Good for you. It's hard to make those changes, good for you for allowing time to come to a decision!
Jean in Newcastle
Great! It's always good to have time to reflect before acting (well, unless it is an emergency, I suppose!)
