UCF612
Crud! I had 2 gifts for my boys arriving today. I checked and it said delivered. Nothing was here so I went online to double check the status and I saw I had the wrong address! I had it sent to our old house! Regular mail is being forwarded but I guess UPS doesn't. My poor husband is driving there now in the rain to see if he can get it back. Thankfully we only moved 15-20 minutes away but he's none to pleased to have to go knock on these people's door. Thankfully he's a really good guy and would never outwardly complain to me but I know he didn't want to spend his evening driving back to the area he JUST came from for work, in the rain! I've had a zillion things delivered to our new place but must have just overlooked this one package. I immediately went and deleted that address from our Amazon account which I should have done as soon as we moved but didn't even think about it. ANY other address in the account would have been fine because the rest are all family members! Fingers crossed they are home and give it to him. UPDATE: So I called Amazon and spoke to a VERY nice woman. She told me that since it had just happened to call UPS and hopefully I could get it stopped and she gave me the tracking number. She promised to call back later to make sure UPS had been helpful and to walk me through anything else I'd need to get done. So we pulled up UPS, entered the tracking number and saw that they had changed the address. Well....they are sending it now to my parents in a city about 1.5 hours away (I did live there but it was over 10 years ago! Glad my parents haven't moved). We called UPS, told them our correct address and hoped it would get switched before it left our area. Checked the tracking this morning and it just arrived in the city next to my parents. Still shows it is going to their house. Which is okay, they are coming here for Christmas so we'll have it in time provided UPS doesn't stop it again and update it with our new house now. I just hope it arrives to my parents during the day when my dad is home and not later when they are leaving to NC. Argh! Amazon lady did call back like promised as well. umsami
Oh no! I did that after we first moved. Luckily my next door neighbor was able to ship it to me. I'm sorry! Hope he gets the gifts back soon.
UCF612
Well he just called. The guy at the house refused delivery on the package and sent it back with UPS. Do I call Amazon or try and contact UPS?
ThisIsTheDay
Both. Contact both UPS and Amazon. I am so sorry, this is not something you want to worry about a week before Christmas. I've done the same thing too, ordered a computer and had it sent to our old address. :( It was about ten years ago though, and I don't remember how we fixed it.
Catwoman
Call Amazon and let them sort it out for you. Chances are they will simply send you a new package and credit you for the one with the incorrect address.
myfunnybunch
You're not the only one who's done this. I did the same thing a couple years ago. (Not with Amazon, with an Etsy seller.) The new owner was not at home, but I left a note on his door and he phoned me that afternoon to let me know he'd refused the package. I contacted the seller with my correct address, and they very generously shipped it to me as soon as they got it back. At no additional cost to me, even, though I was very clear that I expected to pay an additional shipping cost. I'll definitely be ordering from that seller again. :) I'm sorry it's happening so close to Christmas. If the gifts arrive after Christmas, it just means that you all get a little extra Christmas a few days later!
