Night Elf
My mom and stepdad are coming over at 2:00, too late for lunch, but I want to serve some kind of food. I'm thinking of finger foods. What can I make besides finger sandwiches? My dd suggested bacon wrapped sausages. What kind of sausages, and how do I cook them? I need directions in simplistic terms because I'm a dunce in the kitchen. Is there anything else simple to make? I don't want too many desserts. Amira
Dips are easy. Chips and salsa, vegetables and hummus or dressing, flatbread with any number of savory dips, crackers and a cheese dip, fruit and chocolate, tofu and chili sauce or peanut sauce, apples and dulce de leche, so many different things.
LifeLovePassion
A layered taco dip and chips? Pigs in a blanket. Use lil smokie sausages, wrap 1/3 a crescent roll around it and cook to crescent package directions
marbel
Yes to chips and dips of some sort. For something like this, between meals where you don't want a lot, I would have 3 offerings dip with chips of some sort, and vegetables, for example hummus, pita chips, and carrot, celery, red pepper, cucumber (maybe not all the veggies) cheese and salami with crackers or baguette fruit - grapes, clementines, apple slices (offer with peanut butter or a dip, mmmm dulce de leche sounds good; sprinkle with lemon or lime juice to keep from browning) You don't need sweets but a plate of cookies or brownies is nice with coffee or tea. Debbi in Texas
What about tortilla roll ups?
Night Elf
Thanks ladies. I didn't even think about dips. I found the recipe for the thing my dd was thinking about. You just wrap a small smoky sausage with a piece of bacon. Put them in a baking dish and cover with brown sugar and bake 40 minutes. Easy peasy. You're right that it shouldn't be too much. Everyone will have eaten lunch. Thanks for the ideas.
OnMyOwn
I just went to a baby shower and someone had taken chunks of sweet potato, wrapped them in bacon which was held in place with a toothpick and then baked them until the potato had softened. She served them with a bowl of maple syrup to dip them in. Delicious!
