diaperjoys
We've been using CLE LA to help our older kids get up to speed in grammar. We've been doubling up lessons and speeding through. I made an order this morning, only to discover that grades 4 and up don't have answers in their teacher manual. And now I'm stuck. I really have a hard time getting to the correcting each day, and the clean, simple layout of the TM makes it easy and quick for me to find my place and get the task done. I love that I don't even need to read all the questions - simply whiz through the answers. They publish a teacher's manual, but the answer key is the super condensed version, with answers only, and I am loathe to use it. Do any of you use CLE LA for multiple grades? How much of a hangup is the answer key for you?
Ellie
If you want only grammar, then why not Easy Grammar? Analytical Grammar?
G5052
From about 4th or 5th grade, I had my kids check and correct their CLE work with a red pen. Then once a week I'd go over it with them. I graded the tests.
Garga
I don't buy the teacher's manual at all. I just buy the answer key. For my 5th grader, I can probably figure out the answers for myself, though it would be time consuming. A lesson would probably take me 10 minutes to grade. For my 8th grader, the answer key is vital. They teach some pretty tricky stuff and I'm shaky on it for myself. I would honestly never know if a good many of the sentences were diagrammed correctly at that level without the answer key. At all. And for the other questions, it would take me a good 20 minutes to work out the answers for that level. I don't have time for that. That said, we're happy with it. Rod and Staff was cumbersome because there wasn't a workbook. Easy grammar was too easy. My kids regressed. Seriously regressed. I'm trying to fix that this year. I like CLE. It's a workbook, everything the kids need to know is in the workbooks. It's very thorough and has constant review. I love it. But the answer key is critical, I think, for my sanity when checking their work. Edited December 15, 2015 by Garga
Guest
Never fear--the revisions are coming! The new ones will have the student pages within. Answer key sets are available, though. I'm glad you mentioned this as we are using CLE LA, too.
mom31257
I've always only ordered the answer keys. I check daily, but it's really easy.
sunshineslp
Paradox, do you mean there's new revisions coming out for cle? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Guest
Yes! LTR and Reading 100-400 is out and LA 100-300 are done. Lang Arts 400 is supposed to be ready in January/February. The person I spoke with in the summer said they are aiming for a level a year until all the Reading and LA are Sunrise 2nd editions. sbgrace
Rats. The revision schedule is too behind us to be useful for me. OP, I grade 500 LA using the answer key. It doesn't take me long at all. I could time it if you want, but I'd say well under 5 minutes. I don't use CLE for spelling, so that part isn't included in my corrections. JumpyTheFrog
We just started using CLE. Where are the spelling lists for the quizzes and tests? I can't seem to find them in the answer key.
JessReplanted
You are right, the answer keys are horrible compared to the TM with answers. I correct work every night and I think the answer keys are very tedious. We are using grades 7,4,&3 right now. Next year I will be switching my oldest to a different program - he needs more time for writing and literature. I will be sticking with CLE for the other two though (even though I hate the answer keys).
strange_girl
We just started using CLE. Where are the spelling lists for the quizzes and tests? I can't seem to find them in the answer key. I've only used through level three, but in those levels the spelling lists are in the teacher's manual, not the answer keys. The answer keys only have the answers, while the teachers manuals have the 'extras' like how to teach certain sections, lists of necessary supplies, spelling lists for the quizzes, etc.
mom31257
We just started using CLE. Where are the spelling lists for the quizzes and tests? I can't seem to find them in the answer key. Since there are 3 lists, can't you just give list one on quiz one, list two on quiz two, and list 3 on the test?
Guest
The spelling lists are in the back of each lightunit as are the quizzes. The tests are bound in the middle. You remove it before they start wroking on the lightunit. The Lightunit spelling test is in the TM on the test lesson page. HTH! We LOVE CLE! The new TMs (Levels 1-3, so far) are more than answer keys. They are like the math TMs with the student pages shrunken with the answers filled in.
