Sectionals

Do you have a sectional sofa?  Do you like it?

I have never had one, although I tried when we replaced our LR sofa several years back.

DH thinks they aren't versatile enough and says we can't rearrange our furniture (ask us how much we rearrange our furniture????  Yup, that would be zilch!)

We are moving this summer, but if one fits, I may be looking again.  I know we are getting rid of some furniture when we move because it is time to replace anyway.

What do you like/not like about your sectional sofa?

We have had sectionals for years.  We just retired one when it was completely worn out.  For the most part I really like it.  It was soft and comfortable.  It was only in two parts, so we could put them apart if we wanted, but the cushions would slide off of the one with an open end if it wasn't against something.  I like to rearrange furniture often, much to DH's dismay.  His mother never moved furniture,  I have found that I can do a lot of arrangements that work well. Our new (used from my sister) isn't quiet as versatile, but it is very comfortable.  We love it for family movie nights and it works fine for ever day.  I would be a bit cramped if we had visitor over I suppose, but we rarely do that.

We have had them for the last 10+ years, and I can't imagine not having one again. Our have been the more of a U shape, with recliners on one end and a sette on the other. It is just enough room for the 5 of us to sit without the kids driving each other nuts, lol. Plus the dogs like laying on the floor inside the U to be near us.

We have a three piece sectional that makes a "U" shape. It was supposed to have a piece that was a chaise, but we substituted a second couch. It is a great piece of family furniture ! Lots of books read, group video played, and a favorite spot to watch a movie.

I did worry a bit after a friendly acquaintance stopped over as it seemed too closed in for her. For a family, it is really cosy, especially with a large ottoman. We can pull the pices apart , so the smaller love seat (armless) and two couches would be more funcional for a larger more formal gathering. Problem solved..though I think only one person would be comfortable on the love seat , unless they were married or something. Hth

We just ordered one and are waiting for it to arrive. One side is a huge couch and the adjacent side is a chaise. I'm looking forward to having a lot more seating than we currently do. We also got a big ottoman which has storage and easily seats 2 people for the rare times we have lots of guests. We are hoping it gets here before Christmas!

I keep seeing this thread title and thinking it's about swimming.  "Sectionals" is a regional meet with qualifying time.  So disappointed to find it's just about sofas.

Lol!  I get it.   ;)

I love to change around our furniture layout a few times a year, so a sectional would limit my creativity, ha!  I always think the looks of a sectional that isn't put together looks disconnected.
