provenance61
I'm looking for wisdom from other parents -- is it possible to access the internet on the Nintendo DSi, without a Wifi password? We have a security password for our wifi, but just discovered our son playing Youtube video on Nintendo DSi. If you don't have a password, what makes it possible? Hacking? How would he find the password? We have not given him internet priviliges on other computer devices here -- except for our iPad, and except for PC laptop during online class -- because he was previously "curious". What do do now? Alessandra
I am not an expert, but since you have no replies so far, I'll give it a shot. Is there anything on the Nintendo similar to 'forget this network' on iOS? You could change your network password. Also, do you have a network setting that makes the name of the network invisible? Have you enabled parental controls on the DSi? Normally, no one should be able to connect to a password protected network without a password. On another device, you could forget your network (not just turn off wifi) and see what you need to reconnect. Could someone have disabled your password protection?
provenance61
Thanks Alessandra. we just had a chat and it appears that he tried different variations and "found" the password as it was same as on our skype. We will definitely change it. We don't have the ability to make network invisible now (I asked DH) but will with new router. Problem is just that he keeps saying time to get this and that set up, and we're down a laptop and printer too so the whole computer situation has me about in tears. Can you possibly tell me how the forget this network works on iOS? We do have iphone and iPad, I suppose these too will need to be locked down even tighter. Sure.Find ghe Settings icon and tap it The second item on the list should be WiFi, select it The, if wifi is on, the name of your network should appear, select it At the top of the screen, you should see Forget this Network, select it Btw, I am using iOS version 8 something, but I think other versions are similar. Before you Forget, you might want to make a note of any network settings you have. You will need to enter this info, plus the new password on all your devices. You can secure your iPhone and iPad by requiring a 4 digit code (or fingerprint on newer models) to open them. It's in Settings. Scroll down for Touch ID and Passcode.
