Ottakee
Our 12 year old needs to bring a dessert to a holiday party hosted by his teacher for his classroom. This is for 5th graders. It will be a "dress up" event at the teacher's house. I need ideas that are easy to make, look nice, easy to transport/serve/eat, and something kids that age would like for a holiday party. There will be a few kids bringing dessert so I might be able to get away with fun cookies, candy, fudge, etc. What would you make?
JudoMom
I would make chocolate chip cookies or brownies, simply because the teens/tweens love mine and I know they would get eaten and be enjoyed.
kewb
Rice Krispy treats. Jazz them up with a chocolate drizzle if you feel motivated.
zoobie
Mini cookies (use a small scooper) and place some mini M&Ms on top before baking
cjzimmer1
peanut butter spread between 2 ritz crackers and half dunked in chocolate. Can drizzle with white chocolate for more festive appearance
KatieJ
Rice Krispy treats. Jazz them up with a chocolate drizzle if you feel motivated. This is exactly what I was thinking. You could add red and green M & Ms. I have made them with different flavors of crispy cereal that I bought at Aldis.
Ottakee
Thanks. Those are good ideas. I think I need to stay peanut free but rice krispie treats with red and green m&m would be fun.
kewb
M & M's are not peanut safe. They are made on the same equipment as the peanut M & Ms.
Stacia
From the food allergy aspect, I would just go w/ the plain rice krispie treats. Most tweens will be so busy devouring them that they won't notice green coloring or not. ;) Instead of a festive color, you could mold or cut them into festive shapes (like Christmas trees, stars, etc...).
