Can I ask for views for a really neat YouTube video our sons made?

I hope it's okay to ask this here.  Our boys made a really neat fast-motion YouTube video of them building an extremely strong dry stack bridge out of building planks.  It is to advertise a new family business we're working on, but it is really fun to watch (in my humble unbiased opinion :001_smile: ).  I'm wondering if any of you would want to take two minutes to watch it and boost our view numbers so that it would show up better in searches.  Likes, comments, and shares are appreciated, too.  Thanks a lot.

ETA:  I know this post is really old, but I wanted to add an update.  I finally finished the website I was working on for the planks- http://www.taykoplanks.com/. Any positive critique is welcome.

Watched, and I'll show dh later, he'll enjoy it and the other projects you show on your page.

I would consider adding a bit more info to your ordering page, about how it's a family business and you make the planks yourself, maybe a bit more detail on quality/ease of building. When I saw the page, I just thought you were distributing for a company.

I think making it clear that it's your own product will interest a lot of people, plus adding keywords will help with google searches: family business, handcrafted, small business, wooden toys, quality, old-fashioned, building skills, smart toys, and so on.

I'd also add a bit more detail about balance, building ability, etc, for people who aren't familiar with these planks. Many people are not going to click through to the projects page. For people who are familiar with the planks, the are going to want some assurance that these work like Kevas, etc,  and don't just look like them. We have some really good ones and then some that look nearly the same, but my kids rarely touched them, because they don't build the same.

Oh, and the "check out this page" worked fine for me but doesn't show as a highlighted link the way "contact us" does.

Tell your boys good job!

I would also use the words "Creative Construction Planks" on the ordering page and probably in each product description.

100 Creative Construction Planks as the product name, and underneath you could put perfectly balanced identical maple planks or something similar.

Thank you so much for this feedback!  I'll consider everything and work on changes.

I've been thinking about making a new website for them (and might in the future).

I might be back with more questions for you.

Both the links work and look fine to me.  I'll see if there is any difference in the way they're set up.

So, the video was 2 minutes--what was the actual build time?? :)  That's a pretty crazy structure.  Did boy #2 get to stand on it too?

The boys did a great job.

It took them about one hour and forty minutes.  The video is sped up 45 times (but we lost a little bit of footage.)  There were actually three boys in the video, but they switched in and out so fast you might not have noticed.  Boy #2 stood on it, but not Boy #3.  :001_smile:  My husband (about 180 lbs) stood on it and it didn't budge.

I posted it on FB and gave your planks a plug. I also bookmarked it, because I have a grandson who I might purchase these for in the future. (He's only a few months old now.)

Out of curiousity, how many planks did it take to build the bridge in the video?

Thanks so much for the share!  My husband makes custom cabinets for a living, but it would be great to have a business that isn't so dependent on the local economy (which isn't that good).  It's been fun working on this together as a family and we're excited to see where it goes.

The bridge took 2,416 planks.

I watched it, my sons watched it, then we all watched it again to see whether there really were three boys in the video! Neat stuff!

If the boys hadn't been wearing different color shirts, you probably couldn't tell at all.  Hmm, maybe that's why someone asked if it was built over several days.  (because the clothes kept changing)

Thanks for watching!

Yep, it was the changing clothing that left me thinking it took more than a day.

It's really a fun video!  I hope this works out well for you!

It took me a while, but I finally finished my website. Thanks again for the advice.  (I want to go back and do some more things for SEO some time, but I just wanted to get it launched.)
