gardenmom5
anyone done this? have a favorite charity to which to donate? of the top three recommended, the only one that's interesting to me is the kidney - but even they don't say whether their over 75% of "proceeds" is net or gross. (most don't give any information.) I did see the tip on making sure their name gets put on the title/transfer-paperwork (and if they say to leave it blank - go find another chairity) Edited December 1, 2015 by gardenmom5
Cinder
We donated one to Habitat for Humanity. They had a couple guys come around to pick it up. It was dead dead dead; we couldn't move it without a tow truck. They sold it at auction for scrap and we were allowed to deduct the sale price or $500 (I think that was the amount), whichever was more. lulalu
Two cars to teen challenge best thing we did and they picked them up! They needed to be towed so that was great.
gingersmom
I donated a car about 10 years ago. It's called skipping title when they ask to leave title blank and you don't want to do that. I called motor vehicles at the time to find out.

We have donated vehicles on more than one occasion to St. Vincent De Paul and it was the same deal. They picked it up and towed it away. SerenityNow
We have donated two cars to the local high school to use in their auto repair classes. Kind of like donating your body to science, I guess!

mom2scouts
We donated a car to a public high school vocational program. Students came from six different school districts for vocational training, so we were helping students from many communities. They were thrilled because they usually gave low cost repairs to local people and didn't often have a car that allowed them to learn whatever they wanted. Our car had lots of problems and that just made them happier!
