tammyw
My ds9 listens to audiobooks every night before bed. He recently loved The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar by Roald Dahl. We've already done every Roald Dahl book many times over. Any good suggestions for him?

Aurelia
What exactly did he like about the book? That might help narrow down some suggestions. Is it the humor? The narrator's voice? The protagonist?
Michael12
The Wonderful Tale of Henry Sugar and Six More is a book of short stories. The title story is my favorite of the bunch (and only this one is done on the audiobook). I can't think of anything quite like it. It's fiction presented as fact. The audiobook narrator is David Suchet (PBS Hercule Poirot). My recollection is that he does a great job with the Indian and English dialects. If you aren't looking for an audiobook, I'd certainly recommend the other stories in that collection. Like a lot of Dahl, there are some disturbing bits - The Swan, for example. But there's also The Hitchhiker, which is just a great short story, kind of in the O. Henry vein. Some of the other stories are autobiographical. This book is often considered separately from Dahl's children's books like Charlie, Matilda, Danny, James. etc. It's a bit more mature. I will order the full book so he can read that. I do think he liked the "short story" aspect of it. Right now he's listening to The Hobbit, which will obviously take a good couple nights to get through (he does about 30 minutes each night, sometimes longer) but I think the short story format was kind of fun for him. So if anyone has other short story recommendations on audiobook, that would be great!
ExcitedMama
What about Peter Pan by Jim Dale? I wasn't a big fan of the book but Dale's narration is amazing!
Aurelia
The Neil Gaiman Audio Collection is good. DD has listened to it several times. Just So Stories with Tim Bulkley on Librivox A Child's Christmas in Wales (obviously holiday themed)
