ksr5377
I'm looking for something similar to these, but a bit more complicated. But not Legos. She loves building things but is not a fan of Legos. I think they're just not an exciting gift to her since we already have tons in the house due to older siblings. She has the first Goldie Blox set from last Christmas but after the initial newness there wasn't much to do with it, it was fairly simple. Farrar
Snap Circuits? Tinker toys? Gears, Gears, Gears? Kapla Blocks? Haba Ball Track? How old is she? Might she enjoy a Makey Makey?
UCF612
Roominate? I've never owned them but just saw an ad (or a post here?) for them the other day.
redsquirrel
Yes, how old is she? I was thinking snap circuits as well. And there is something....zometools? They are expensive, but lots of people rave about them. I can personally say that the K'nex educational kits actually work. I've had bad luck with some of the Thames and Kosmos kits, bad enough that I won't buy them any more. But K'nex came through. Both snap circuits and K'nex educational kits have shown up on Amazon daily deal etc when it is getting close to Christmas.
ksr5377
She's 7, 8 in February. I keep seeing things that look cool but I would prefer to buy something that I know will work. So many of the science-like kits turn out to be duds. Thanks for the K'nex recommendation. I hadn't thought of Snap Circuits as she seemed more interested in building a structure of some sort, but I bet she would like those. bettyandbob
I was going to suggest roominate too. It looks cool.
Mergath
We have the Roominate Chateau, and it's way better than Goldie Blox, which we have also. Much more open-ended.
