Halcyon
I need to create a middle school transcript for submission to the public school system. I want it to look official, but would like to include course descriptions. All the ones I am seeing are for high school, which i guess is fine, right? any favorites? Also, how do i calculate GPA? for us, an A would be the highest grade achievable. I don't have any clue how to "weight" the different course. They were all one year courses...so is that 1 credit? Do i even need to do that on a middle school transcript? thanks!!!

Halcyon
nope. i guess it's overkill. typical of me. okay, so no course descriptions. LOL. I already did it for the private school we're applying to so i thought i would include the info, but you're right. THey'll probably look at me like i have two heads. MinivanMom
Do your local middle schools calculate gpa? Our public middle schools list grades and credits, but don't calculate a gpa. It is typically 1 credit for a year long course unless you are in California. I would check on what is typical for the middle schools in your area, and do it exactly like that. Does the high school have any requirements for what they would like to see on a transcript? Our high school specifically asks for middle school transcripts to have several things: -Be printed on school letterhead with the name of the homeschool at the top (we are required to name homeschools in our state). -List all courses taken by year with grades and credits. -Be signed by the homeschool administrator (the parent). I wouldn't do course descriptions for a public school. They might be helpful if you are applying to private school and want to give as much information as possible to the admissions committee. MinivanMom
It might be helpful to have course descriptions for any high school level courses your son took in middle school.
Arcadia
My public school district wants a GPA for the year as well as the subjects and grades for one year. They are not going to come after me if I don't provide :) So if we are enrolling for 9th, I only need to submit coursework grades and semester one GPA for 8th. They just want to know the course provider if it is an outside accredited class e.g K12 inc, CTY, EPGY for placement purpose.

I will find a template online i guess. thanks!
Kareni
Halcyon, I'd be happy to share a copy of my daughter's high school transcript if you'd like to see it. Simply send me a personal message with your email address, and I'll email it to you. Regards, Kareni
