Teresa in MO
we are looking for a car for my 19 yo dd. There is a 2007 Hyundai Sonata advertised on Craigslist that has 140,000 on it. My ds said he has alot of friends with older Sonatas that started having major problems at around 120,000 to 130,000 miles. Any experience on way or the other on Sonatas that you care to share? 6packofun
What kind of problems? I would do some research and see if there are specific issues with specific models/years. Dh has a 2003 Hyundai Elantra with 240,000 miles on it and we JUST last week put the most money into it that we ever have--$420--for a new starter and a couple other small things. Before that? I can't even remember any repairs that weren't regular maintenance! I know it's not a Sonata like you're looking at, but we hear mostly good reviews on people's older Hyundai vehicles. Good luck...buying cars is scary to me! lol
Night Elf
I have a 2008 Sonata with 116,000 miles. So far the only problem I've had is the right mirror has broken. The motor is broken or something. It's going to cost $700 to fix and DH didn't think that was worth it. We do regular maintenance on our car and it's been a great car so far. Isabella
Our 2006 Sonata had 195,000km (not sure offhand what that converts to - prob around 130,000 miles) when our now son-in-law rolled and totalled it around 2 years ago (thank goodness he wasn't hurt). It hadn't had any issues whatsoever.
goldberry
No Sonata but a 2004 Sante Fe with 240,000 that is *just now* needing the struts replaced. This will be our first repair other than normal maintenance. This is our second Sante Fe.
