Ottakee
Our new foster son has a ps 3. He is only 12 and has a history that makese want to really limit his internet access. Are there any good games out there that are rated E or a VERY mild T that are worth buying/renting if you don't hook up the internet? I am almost clueless in this stuff. O bought a Minecraft game today but Haven shown it to him as I wasn't sure it was worth playing if we do to hook up to the internet.

Elfknitter.#
Minecraft is E 10+ which means good for everyone 10 or older. The 10+ rating is for fantasy violence. We have an Xbox 360, so I'm not sure if this translates to PS3. My kids like to play in creative mode mostly. They occasionally play in survival but do not connect to the Internet. We also have various Lego games with are also rated E 10+. We really enjoy them. The rating is mostly due to cartoon violence.
Arctic Bunny
Our kids have played minecraft on a PS3 without Internet. You may need Internet for initial setup and upgrades, and then periodically for upgrades. We take the PS3 in the camper, so, yes all those games can be played without Internet. kroe1
I have never hooked up a PS3 to the Internet. I have probably about 50 or so games, all rated below a PG13. What kind of games does the boy like? He should be able to tell you which ones he would like to play.
Ottakee
He likes Grand Theft Auto but that is NOT an option in our home ;-)
smstjohn
You could go with racing games if he likes Grand Theft Auto. I know it's not technically the same, but might be worth a try. There's a Sonic one for the PS3. My kids have also liked Little Big Planet and Rayman Legends on the PS3. I don't know if it needs internet to update but internet connection for actually playing is not required, I don't believe.
Kim in Appalachia
You may need the internet for the updates, but I'm unsure. There are plenty of games that don't require the internet, but those updates do. You could install the games, make sure they are up to date, then disconnect the internet.
