Caviar Posted October 22, 2015 Share Posted October 22, 2015 There are a few threads already regarding the abacus or soroban, but some of the threads are three years old and some links no longer work, so I'm looking for new information. Have you used an abacus or soroban with your child? Did you come up with a program on your own, or do you know of a good program to use? mathnerd Posted October 22, 2015 Share Posted October 22, 2015 My DS is learning the Soroban/Anzan method. He has progressed very far in the past 2 years. We do not teach it at home - we have a Japanese tutor with a local Soroban school and their curriculum is affiliated with the Japanese Abacus association. DS has daily homework and gets a timed pre-test for each level before he tests out of it. If you have any specific questions, I am happy to answer.
