ajfries
We're 2 weeks away from taking over our new (to us) business and I'm feeling the need for some structure. Is GTD worth the cost of the book (library isn't an option)? I've been googleing the last few days but I'm just not feeling like I'm grasping the concept. Yeah, ok, put things on paper. Make a tickler file. And a project list (that I'm a little fuzzy on). Everything I'm reading just raaaaves about GTD but I don't know if I'm missing something or it really is that simple :) I tried listening to the author's TED talk but it wasn't all that insightful into the actual methodology. Anyway, has anyone had good (or bad or anything in between) experience using GTD?
Mergath
I had to google all this stuff because I'd never heard of it before, and I have to say, a tickler file sounds like so much more fun than it actually is.
SweetandSimple
I think that the book is worth the price, especially for a business. As far as managing things at home, I use some of his ideas, and I gained a lot from reading his book. One piece of advice-- there is a website called Toodledo-- it isn't associated with GTD, but I use it (just the free version) as an online "tickler file" and I LOVE IT!
BooksandBoys
If memory serves, the blog Simply Convivial has a series about GTD for homemakers and a web course on GTD for homeschoolers. I need refresher. I use it, but not as well as I did before children.
fraidycat
I would say it's worth it for your business. Definitely. I go through GTD phases. I'd love to be able to just do it all the time, but that's not a GTD problem, it's a self-discipline/personality issue. Structure (and it's byproduct: productivity) and me are in an ongoing battle of good vs. evil. :D
