Stupid cat...

All three cats sleep in our bedroom with dh and me. Well, early this morning I woke to this weird sound that I thought was stuff bouncing off the roof. It was by the window, so I thought maybe branches or hail (as we are having a coastal system right now). But then I realized that the sound was the least intelligent of our three cats trying to pull his stuck claws out of the little vent grate on the top/back of the older style flat screen tv on top of our tall dresser. We live in a cape cod style house with the curved roof, so our bedroom ceiling curves in and there is not much space above the tv before you hit the ceiling. Apparently though, it is just enough space for a cat to try to walk on the thin surface of the tv. I woke dh when I realized the cat was stuck.

I am too short to reach the top of the tv let alone the cat on top and had to stand on the bed and lean over to try to help. Dh was holding the 15 lb cat up with one hand while trying to free a front foot with the other. The cat then sticks one of his other foot's claws in the grate. Sigh. We finally freed him. We checked his feet and his claws were all torn up. Poor dumb cat. I am actually glad it was this cat, though, because the spastic one would have ripped his own toes off trying to get away. Pets keep life from getting boring I guess.

Oh, poor cat!  They are an unusual and lovable breed LOL!  We have a 9 yo female Ragdoll.  BTW, good writing.  I was able to picture your bedroom and how it must have looked.  Glad your cat seems o.k.  Perhaps double check to make sure no bleeding, no limping, etc.  You've probably already done that.

Yes, I think cats are fun and full of personality. Each of our cats is quite different from the others. We have a cute little dog, but dh and I are more cat people than dog people I think.

Thankfully, kitty is fine. He didn't seem to panic, and I think that is what kept him from getting hurt. It seemed that he would get one foot free, but because he had to put down one front foot to free the other, he just kept going back and forth  .
