Farrar
I would just take her to the library and have her check out some of the science fair books. There are ones for all kinds of subjects. Or, this site is excellent: http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/project_ideas.shtml

Farrar
I was just looking at their project choosing thing and it's incredibly detailed. I think maybe they added it since the last time I was there.
Chris in VA
Oh, I thought that was what you were recommending! lol She will enjoy taking the "test." I just did, and a lot of very interesting projects came up.
Farrar
Um, yeah, absolutely what I was recommending. Yeah. ;) Seriously, the projects are really well written up. So once she finds something with the chooser quiz, it'll be good.
vonfirmath
Science fair projects I did back in high school -- Built an air machine and tested the different wing shapes to figure out which were more aerodynamic. The next year I did the same thing, but used water and different types of hulls. I think in that case, instead of the pressure on the wing, i measured how long it took to get down a water channel I built? I don't remember the details as well. Does no living things include no plants? I remember my sister did a project with plants growing.

Chris in VA
Oh shoot, believe it or not, Farrar, she's not supposed to use that site!
Chris in VA
She did an extensive project with aridopsis (I did not spell that correctly) last year, so she doesn't want to do plants. Still looking... Thanks for the info so far. Maybe she found something at school today.
