Tess in the Burbs
Getting ready to start Jacobs geometry. Do we need the Geometer's Sketchpad? I also saw Geogebra online and it is free. Looking through the syllabus I don't see the Sketchpad mentioned. Is it needed? Helps learn it easier? thanks!
cbollin
I used jacob's geometry and never used or needed or missed the sketchpad option. Those were optional and not scheduled in our mfw plans. I have dd who is college sophomore in engineering. She hasn't whined about needing it or that everyone else had it. nope. nothing like it. Middle daughter also used Jacobs. Never felt it was lacking for not doing whatever sketchpad is/isn't. :)

JanetC
Geogebra is equivalent functionality. It does make for some great demos of geometry principles. It's a bit confusing at first, but I figured things out with help from Google.
