ErinE
My youngest two (boy and girl) have wide feet with high arches. None of the hand-me-down shoes my oldest two wore are fitting the babies. What brands do you recommend for them?

Ellie
My youngest two (boy and girl) have wide feet with high arches. None of the hand-me-down shoes my oldest two wore are fitting the babies. What brands do you recommend for them? I took my dds to the Stride-Rite store. That was the only place I could find shoes to fit them. Of course, that was a gazillion years ago, lol.
tm919
We did mostly pediped until my kids got out of the "chubby / wide feet" stage.
Kathryn
Stride Rite is what fit my kids who have similar feet best.
ErinE
We did mostly pediped until my kids got out of the "chubby / wide feet" stage. I haven't seen those before. I like the strap across the top so I can adjust the fit across. One of the issues the littles ones have is there's a thick pad of fat right on top of their foot. Even if I find a wide shoe, I can't get their foot into it because the top of the foot is too high.
Kristie in Florida
You've described my son's feet. Stride Rite.
Lady Florida.
Stride Rite was the only place I could find shoes that fit my son's wide toddler feet.
Jean in Newcastle
My children did not have shoes when they were babies. When they started to toddle, we went to Stride Rite. But inside they still went barefoot or in stocking feet.
gingersmom
My son could find nothing to fit at Stride Rite or any other shoe store. He had (still has), crazy large wide feet. His first pair of shoes came from a fancy NYC shoe store. It wasn't a matter of what I liked, it was what would fit. $100 later he had an overpriced pair of shoes from France.
Hwin
We've been happy with Stride Rite and this style of New Balance has been good as well. My kids have super fat feet. You might want to read the Amazon reviews, though, because some people think they are narrow. My two littlest kids have legitimately wide, thick feet, and I love them. So no promises from me. But I also like that they are a little more lightweight than the SR shoes I usually get.
carriede
Payless also has wide sizes.
monstermama
We've had luck with Stride Rite and New Balance, though New Balance fits DS better.
MercyA
Stride Rite and this style of New Balance tennis shoe in extra-wide (works for boys or girls). Zappos has free shipping and free returns, which is great for hard-to-fit kids!
ErinE
My children did not have shoes when they were babies. When they started to toddle, we went to Stride Rite. But inside they still went barefoot or in stocking feet. Inside, they walk around without shoes, but we walk dd9 to school everyday and the little ones need shoes. DS2 has been managing with Velcro-strap sandals, but I'd like to find "real" shoes for the cooler weather.
Professormom
We really liked Keens for my wide-footed one:-)
Incognito
Robeez are great. For my very deep-footed child, I found the Skidders that are a sock with a rubber sole to be GREAT shoes. I was so sad when he got too big for them. Stride Rite and New Balance Wide are other more regular shoe alternatives.
Rachel
Pediped, Umi, and Riley Roos all worked well for us. Pediped has a couple different types, I didn't like the styles that have a slick bottom, my kids couldn't get any traction even though they were confident walkers. We happen to have a children's shoe store that carries lots of different brands. That was helpful in finding brands that worked for us. shawthorne44
Have you looked into swimming shoes? Mine was tiny and she was wearing 6m shoes when she started to walk at one-year. They were the only thing that stayed on. Even later they seemed to be forgiving size-wise and allowed her foot to move like bare feet but with protection from scary stuff on the ground. The skidders just mentioned are a similar idea.
Holly
We've used the Robeez style leather shoes when our babies were that age. They are easy to get on/off and actually stay on their feet. They fit much better than anything else we've found. My DC have all had thick feet, so we have a hard time finding anything else. Otherwise, we take them to the store and keep trying shoes on them until we get a winner. ;)
Hilltop
We love Pediped shoes for wide variety toddler feet. You can often find them at good prices on Amazon.
