So sorry.

Do you think your back is stress related?

Hope you feel better soon. :-(

It's very possible.  I found that I chipped my tooth last night right before I went to bed, so I was pretty upset with that and when I woke up this morning it was a wreck.

Thanks!

:grouphug: My week has been pretty wretched too. Chocolate all around!

Awww I'm sorry. :( :grouphug:  :grouphug: :grouphug:

Grinding your teeth at night due to stress could cause the chip. Stress can cause the back pain too.

But wait...Your stove caught fire!! That's enough to make anyone gain a few grey hairs. I'm glad it was just the stove and that it didn't spread.

You definitely need to unwind. It sounds to me that the stove incident was traumatic. You don't need a bath, you need a full body massage, a hot cup of lavender or chamomile tea, and a big bar of chocolate.

It was INCREDIBLY traumatic.  I had my children waiting in the garage with cats in tow...ready to run, while I stood there screaming into the phone at my husband about what to do while I held the fire extinguisher at the ready.  It was terrifying.

I definitely need to do something to unwind. *sigh*

I've had this happen to me, too.  My dh's advice was to turn off the breaker.  It worked.  (And, I would have never thought of that on my own, especially in the moment of panic.)

That is exactly what my husband said to do...and it worked!  And yeah I wouldn't have thought of that in a million years either...especially in a moment like that.

I will definitely remember that. I hope I never have to use the info, however.

My goodness, I think I would take a vacation from the stove for at least a week if not more. Show some love to the slow cooker and microwave for awhile. You need time to recover from that!

Your story reminds me of what happened when I was a little girl, maybe six. The stove malfunctioned, it was beeping, and the flames in the oven resembled a fire place. My mom had me at the back door and told me to run if she said the word. I thought it was a bomb and was terrified that my mom was going to be blown up! I believe she unplugged it. I laugh now but I can imagine the fear of that moment.

Even though you were freaking out, you did a great job keeping it together enough to save the day. Not everyone could do that. Super mom to the rescue! One day this will be a story you tell your grandkids with a smile on your face. :D

Awww shucks, thanks.

I've been having to use the microwave for the past couple of days, which we hate...we're food snobs I guess.  I hate the taste of microwave food.

Your 6 year old you story sounds terrifying, you poor thing.  My kids even had rolled the suitcase out into the garage with them to stuff the kitties in, just in case...they're indoor only, so I'm not sure they'd come back if they got out.

The thing that scared me terribly, was that even though I had turned the oven off, the broiler element was still on, still sparking and still on fire....thank goodness for the breaker.  I also discovered that it's extremely difficult to read in situations like that...you almost literally have no idea what the word stove looks like any longer.  I might need to put a note by it on the breaker next to it, just in case it ever happens again.

UPDATE: New oven has been installed and decorated appropriately with adorably cute fall magnets.  Went to the dentist this AM and had the chipped tooth filled and I am now incredibly sore from the numbing shots and the yanking and pulling on my jaw, but relieved.  My back is nearly completely better, though a little sore and my neck is no longer cricky. Yay me!  Thanks for all the virtual hugs and encouragement guys.  We're absolutely fed up (ha, no pun intended) with cold foods...so veggie burgers and French fries for dinner tonight!
