avazquez24
We love our CLE math and so I've been looking into CLE LA for DD and DS (9 and 8 yrs old). I've read several times now from others that CLE is "weak" on the writing. Did you find that to be true? Did you supplement with anything, and if so what? weintz8
If you have a child that can write from their head but just needs a little direction on how to organize written papers the CLE is fine. It teaches how to setup a proper paragraph, essay, and research paper. It also goes over outlining and some poetry/creative writing. If your child is writing adverse or cries when presented with any written assignment you will need to add more writing to CLE. We use CLE LAs with IEW.
SnMomof7
For us, CLE is enough until the 600s. We do oral narrations for Bible study, written narrations in history, and CLE is just about right for what I feel children should do at young ages. We do supplement starting in the 600s as I feel children should have more, and there is very little writing in 6-7. Not enough for those grades in any case. SnMomof7
Oh, we are using EIW for 7th and will use Killgallon for 6th for the next child.
