MamaSprout
Physical science this year for sixth grader. Dc does not want textbooky (CPO) I want math (prealgebra level) Hands on is good, but must be fairly open and go- I work almost full time. Secular Not read from a screen. Anything we've tried that way doesn't get done (DO, Exploration Education). I'm thinking one of these kits with an encyclopedia: http://www.qualitysciencelabs.com/physical-science-labs/ Thoughts? MamaSprout
Well, dc says she wants to do Derek Owens Physical Science, which suits me. I think we will tak full advantage of the sample, though, as I have my doubts. Anybody add anything to it to make it more "fun"?
Lisa in the UP of MI
What would be fun for her? My daughter would love living science books and more hands-on work.
Lisa in the UP of MI
Did you ever try a kit from Quality Science Labs? I'm considering the earth science one for my daughter after she finishes her general science course.
MamaSprout
Did you ever try a kit from Quality Science Labs? I'm considering the earth science one for my daughter after she finishes her general science course. I look at them every year, but I haven't bought one yet. My dd says she likes hands on, but really only does hands on in a group. It doesn't get done at home. She does like living science books and videos, but she's watched every NOVA and Science Friday video podcast she can lay her hands on. Maybe physical science games? Maybe I should look at Ellen mchenry's site....
Country Girl
A few years ago, my oldest ds did Derek Owens Physical science combined with the Quality Science Labs Physical science kit. They didn't mesh perfectly, but overall I was pleased with the combo of the two.
