kokotg
DS is about 3/4 of the way through with First Language Lessons 3, and I'm thinking of trying out Growing with Grammar next. Has anyone made this transition at the same point? Should he go right into Growing With Grammar 4? Is there anything covered earlier in GWG but not in FLL that I'd need to catch him up on first? TIA! kokotg
just bumping this in case someone missed it the first time around and can help me out, since I need to make a decision and order something soon! TIA!
shougmom
I know this isn't exactly what you are asking... but maybe the bump up will help you also. I've gone from FLL 1/2 to GWG 3 with both my children very painlessly. Therefore I'd imagine going from FLL 3 to GWG 4 would also be a good fit. :) Linda
buddhabelly
and it doesn't require any previous grammar knowledge. Our 4th-grade friend is doing it this year as well and he hasn't had any grammar before. I hope you love GWG as much as we do! buddhabelly
JudyJudyJudy
We did FLL3 last year, and I had planned to use FLL4 this year. However, I gave up on waiting for FLL4 to come out, so I ordered GWG4. So far we've encountered nothing that is a problem, and I don't see anything in looking ahead that will be. The only thing my son doesn't like is that he has to draw the diagrams when diagramming sentences with GWG. He liked that they were already drawn for him in FLL. :p
JudyJudyJudy
I should add that if you like memorizations, you'll need to add those on your own. I'm also pulling some lessons from this book: http://books.google.com/books?id=bPkAAAAAYAAJ&rview=1. We particularly like the picture studies. kokotg
I'm glad I bumped :) Thanks so much everyone--exactly what I needed to hear!
mamato3 all-boy boys
Just one more opinion.....We also used FLL3 (1&2 as well), and are now in GWG4. I actually think FLL3 ended slightly above where GWG 4 starts, but I am OK with that. It is providing lots more review of the concepts we learned last year.
