The Venting Thread

Recommended Posts

How about this:

A doctor in the ER shared some information about my son's medical condition with the director of the college program my son is enrolled in, without my son knowing about it or giving his permission. (Ds is 20yo.) And to top it off, the doctor painted a very different picture of my son's limitations than what his own doctor has prescribed, and now the director has said that he will be withholding ds from participating in some aspects of the program. Ds is livid, and I am trying to not be in too much of Mama Bear mode.

How would they even know each other?

So the son was taken to the ER from the college?  Even so, HIPPA should have protected your son.  I would take this up the chain of command at both the ER and the college because it was unethical on both of their parts.

Yes. I'm not sure the director really did anything wrong, per se. I think he was talking with the doctor while ds went to imaging. But the doctor certainly should have known better! When we were in the ER with dh last Summer, they wouldn't tell me anything until dh confirmed for them that it was alright to talk to me about what was happening.

The director told me the doctor asked if he was ds's father, and when he said no, he was the director of the college program, the doctor asked about the program. (It is a non-traditional, very cool program that ds is loving.) When the director told him about some of the activities they do, the doctor spoke up and said that someone with ds's condition couldn't do those things. I have no doubt that they both have ds's best interests at heart, but I think it still crossed a line. Some people with ds's condition are on very strict limitations, but his own doctor only said no contact sports like football or martial arts.

Vent: I hate returns when there was a coupon involved, especially a coupon that was a $$ amount of the total purchase price, not a specific item. The computers prorate that amount out for all items, so if you return something, they take that amount off too even though you could still have gotten the amount off the rest of your purchase. Frustrating when the clerk doesn't understand this!

I'm almost 35 weeks pregnant and trying to get back to some exercise after being on partial bed rest. I went for a 1.5 mile walk with DH, kids, and dog this afternoon and was almost ready to cry from how badly my hips/tailbone were hurting. And I had to take several rest breaks during our walk. I feel so out of shape and ready for this baby to be born.

Aging.  I finally hate aging.

It's a bummer when you get up in the morning, find something "new" that mysteriously hurts, and instantly recall your grandmother warning you about such things when you were a wee tike.  Grandma did NOT have to be correct!

It is rude to show up to sport field that people are playing on and start playing another sport. It was very clear a game was going on. I can not believe that parent who did this with their child thought it was a good idea.

I forgot mean girls have mean mothers. Rudely reminded of it tonight.

If "you" are so sure your kid did not do something, maybe "you" should check social media before you accuse someone of lying.

A photo is indeed worth a thousand words. As are snapchat screenshots.

Major whine.

I live in Florida.  It is still in the high 80s/low 90s.  My AC is running in the house 24/7 and it is too hot to be outside for any length of time.

Yet today, when I went to three clothing stores, all I see are thick sweaters and coats.  For the love of God - HEAVY WINTER COATS.  I need a bathing suit.  And shorts.  And summer tops.

Why???

Car insurance. (not related to my accident)

I am just going to vent on this thread, because $700.

My account was transferred to another office when my agent of 10 years retired. Although he was my agent 10 years, I have been with the company 25. 25! I keep getting emails and even snail mails to sign a rejection waiver for under-insured and pip. Um, no. I have told them verbally and in writing that I will not sign the waiver. As a victim of an accident in which both are critical - no, just no. They insist that is how the policy was transferred.

I got a call, with an accusing tone, about my "son who now has his license." Um, no. He has his PERMIT. When corrected, the employee stammered something about having to notify them when he gets his license. No duh. This is my third teen;  I have notified them each time.

Finally, an SUV with the agent's name and office custom painted all over the vehicle was driving aggressively and obnoxious (office of agent is within shouting distance of my school job and I see the vehicle often.)

I am getting quotes for a new company.

I thought I was getting a good deal. I saw a couple items on clearance online and chose store pickup. They were paid for so I thought all was well. I just got an email saying they cancelled the order because they didn't have the items. Why did you list them online as available?! Thanks for wasting my time. I almost drove to the store tonight to get them!

Headaches.  I think at some point we can all vent about headaches.  Apparently this is my morning on duty to do this (sigh).  I have lower back of head, right side.  Is anyone else covering other regions?

Bed bugs. :cursing:  :cursing: :cursing:

I am covered with bed bug bites. My entire torso and side, legs too.

They sting and itch and are gross.

Going to get rid of our mattress and wash the sheets and blankets in hot water.

Other people go on vacation and get tans. I get :cursing:  bed bugs.

Update on bedbugs.

Wednesday night had what my daughter thought were mosquito bites on my back. Woke up Thursday covered in welts and mostly thought they were hives. By late Thursday night, I was covered in angry red welts, intense itching, stinging and burning. They gave me prednisone and atarax and said it was an intense allergic reaction because I did not bring in any bugs. Yes, I am going to camp out by my bed to look for bed bugs while I am in intense pain and itching. They have me follow up yesterday and the doctor sees the pictures and says that the preliminary one is bug bites. The other pictures show extensive covering of red angry "welts" covering my very pale flesh and there is a good possibility that I will have pigment scars. We called the landlord this morning, hoping he would have bedbug insurance but he says it is our responsibility. We do not have thousands of dollars to deal with this. So I guess worse case scenario is our house becomes infested with bed bugs, we lose our shelter and all the contents inside and then get sued for having a bedbug infested house. Sorry, I am in Chicken Little mode. DH called an exterminator, but I already prayed all night and that was a no as usual. :willy_nilly:

We came back the morning of October 31st. The bites showed up on the November 12th/13th. I followed up on the 17th.

So sorry, MeghansMom. Exterminators sound expensive. Someone I know just went through this. So much laundry! I thought if this happened to us, I might be tempted to try buying a mattress cover first, before springing for new mattresses. I hope things are better now. :-)

If this happened to you, you would get rid of every mattress and pillow and sleep on the cold hard floor. My bites cover two-thirds of my torso and go from my shoulders and neck to mid-thigh and it looks like I have been burnt, my flesh is so angry looking. :( I most likely will have pigment scarring. The owner of the pest business came out and sees no signs of bedbugs except for me and the pictures I took. The bed bug pictures last Thursday look like bites for sure but since then like an red angry allergic reaction. People look in horror, no exaggeration. :(

He is going to treat our master bedroom, our two closets-towel and linen and t-shaped hallway next to the master. He says he does not do heat treat and he will email me and call my husband with the estimate. I thought a thousand and he said no, not a thousand and he would work with us. Just so worried, I was hoping for better holidays this year.

We need to throw away our mattress and destroy it, get bed bug covers, etc.

Thanks for commiserating, KathyBC.

MeghansMom: I don't know what your situation is, but in the apartment my son was living in with his wife and baby, they were having the problem throughout the complex. It was believed the bed bugs were coming in through the air conditioning ducts. They went through a lot and got rid of various pieces of furniture just in case.

Right now we are jobless, homeless (staying with relatives) and one of our kids who is a young adult but lives in another state, wrecked one of our vehicles.

We made plans, dh talked to various possible employers and it all fell through. He's had a few good interviews since then that may be a good fit.

We are in a state we do not want to be in (too expensive) but it's where we came from.

Lost the other job because he hadn't relocated in proper time frame, then the house sold. HAHAHAHA. It was a creepy city to move to anyway so we are fortunate all in all. Still, it is a very hard place to be in.

I want my stuff. I want my privacy. I want to be FREEEEE. So I count my lucky stars, thank God for another day and am grateful I wasn't run out of my country with the clothes on my back. I still love America.

Because you will need them when you leave FL to get out of the heat. It is chchchchilly up here in the mid-Atlantic, by a southerner's temperature gauge. I wore my winter coat outside last night. It was in the 50s.

My sister went shopping for one the other day in FL, because she's going north for Thanksgiving. Yep, she's had 90 degrees also and she thought it was funny.

Gaillardia, Sorry to hear about your son's family. Bedbugs can be a true horror, I pray we fix this in one go around! The exterminator is coming out Tuesday, the one day my husband is off. We are ordering a new mattress in a couple of weeks along with a bedbug mattress cover and covers for the pillows. My daughter and I have been sleeping on our sectional in the living room on the opposite end of the house. My husband has been out of town too. Also thankful that the owner of the pest company is allowing us to make payments. God bless him.

I am incredibly sorry to hear of your job losses and not having a place to live. We were in a similar situation last year with a place to stay. We have been blessed with a great landlord. I pray the job situation works out for your family and again, I am sorry to hear about the car wreck. I am hoping to hear of many good things going your way as far as a job, home and transportation. I too, am thankful to live here in America. God bless!

Heat. Tomorrow is meant to be 105 F. It's not even December yet! We have no A/C. I am not happy.

Hope you got through the day ok! Sometimes we go hang out at the library just for the air con. Summer is coming too early this year.

Meghans Mom:

I hope your skin is feeling better. I don't know of anything that would help to heal you or protect your skin since I've never had to deal with that (and haven't researched it either). I bet those foul creatures don't care for tea tree oil products but I'm not so sure that would make your skin feel good since the harm has been done.

Maybe aloe would help, and calendula ointment.

Thank you for the commiseration. We are too old to be going through this kind of thing but we aren't the only ones our ages who have faced unemployment and being homeless. Grateful that our adult children are thinking for themselves, working, and we have only a couple of kids left in the nest.

Mattresses are so expensive! I hope you find a sweet bargain. Target has queen size air mattresses that are like $35-40 with a pump.

When people manufacture drama then get pissy at you when you attempt a solution.  If people just want to marinate in their own issues, fine.  But don't try to make me attend the party.

It bugs me when...

the adult who is driving says they're "ready" but at two minutes *past* the time to leave starts looking for:

socks

and shoes

and a different shirt to change into

and the cell phone

You were *not* ready!!!

We have a good solid layer of ice over everything. This is currently day 3. The sherrif's department has issued a warning not to drive- they are NO LONGER treating the roads. More ice is expected tonight. I'm tired (already) of doing chores while slipping on ice. I almost dropped the sleeping 2 year old last night getting out of the van. I don't love taking care of all the animals in this weather.

AND tonight we enter (did we ever leave the warning?) another storm warning. More ice. Tomorrow morning we need to leave by 6:30 for a specialist's doctor appointment for one of the kids. It is over an hour away-in the area expected to get the hardest. Sigh. I don't want to cancel-it took a long time to get this appointment. I don't want to get up extra early to get the farm chores done before we leave (I do half the chores, dh does the other half before he leaves for work) I don't want to not cancel and risk slidding on the ice. I don't want to take this (much larger) new vechile into the city in bad conditions. I don't want to cancel theafter-doctors-shopping trip with just 2 of my girls.

ETA: We are also going through so much wood. It's crazy. If this level of cold keeps up, we have only enough for a a couple more days. Then dh and I will need to go out and unfreeze the logs to cut them into smaller pieces and haul them back. (but this hasn't happened yet, and may not, so i shouldn't borrow trouble.)

Why is that when someone else drives your car they decrease your mpg??? I let dh take my car today because the battery in his truck was dead, I got in it this evening and noticed my average mpg went from 32.9 to 32.6 just from him driving it today!!! I know to some people this isn't a big deal but I pride myself in taking care of my car and that means keeping a high mpg under normal driving conditions.

Probably different driving conditions!

My driving is in town, stop and go over hilly roads.  Dh's driving is highway (type) driving for the most part.  So, I am assuming if we swapped cars, we would have different mpg in each other's cars.

Nope all ruralish driving, I drive by his work a lot while doing my errands so I don't think it's that. He does have a tendency to rapidly accerate and has little patience for people who drive below the speed limit (which means more rapid acceleration to pass people if he thinks they are going too slow)

Just do your work.  It is so simple.  Why complicate everything?

All I want for Christmas is kids who do what they asked.  Why is that so hard?

After today dh starts his Christmas vacation. He informed me last night he wants us to travel to see our families on the 15th. I do not want to do that. He said we're supposed to tour lights with his family on the 18th. It didn't occur to me because we never set a date, but they always insist on going on a Friday before Christmas. I feel powerless with these vacation trips. We have one car so we have to leave together. I would rather just go to see the lights without his family on a weekday when it's not crowded, but it's really their thing and that would hurt their feelings.

Maybe I can push back the travel date to Thursday or Friday morning. We're supposed to clean the house together before we leave town and I have plans a lot of days so I just feel really rushed and stressed. I have a dentist appointment Monday and ds and I are supposed to attend a Christmas party for co-op on Tuesday. We already missed the Thanksgiving party. I had this on the calendar in the house and the google calendar and now dh is telling me he wants to travel that day? :glare: Oh and the minute we get to our destination I'm basically watching the baby alone most of the time because he wants to spend all his time at his parents' house and I prefer to spend my time at my own parents' home. Since my parents can't really help me with the kids and I'm nursing dd, it's actually more difficult to be there in some ways.

Amazon reviews! I've complained before about the ones made by people who haven't even used the product/read the book/watched the movie, but do a rating anyway. Today I am complaining about all the ones I keep coming across that end with the statement that they received the product for free or at a discount in exchange for an "unbiased" review. Yeah, right! A couple products have over a thousand 5 star reviews like that! Reviews are becoming useless!!

I am totally sick of my neighbors (we have two of them) who let their dogs bark at all hours of the night.  It's hard for me to imagine anything more rude than continuing to allow your dogs to bark in the middle of night when you know it is bothering your neighbors.  :banghead:
