hsmomma1
My rising 7th grader and I would like to do a genealogy study. Anybody recommend any free sites or books on how to put a study like this together?
PamJBA
At my library the DAR ladies offered classes and help at our Local History branch. If you have a local history library that might be a good place to start. There are lots of books and ancestry.com, of course.
scoutingmom
Familysearch.org is free and good. Like any service that people submit family trees to, there is a lot of just wrong stuff. But there are indexed sources to look up, and ideas on what to do. Legacy Family Tree is a free program to record your genealogy on your own computer. It is best to get that, then he/she enters all they know about themselves. Then add the parents and that info. They need to know how to record their sources of information adds that is vital!
