Allearia
A few weeks ago I talked about the labeled spines I made for spiral notebooks, but I finally found a great way to create nice spines for all these Proclick notebooks and other spiral books I have been making. Printable fabric. I attach it with cloth binding tape. I am still experimenting but like them a lot, and can see how with practice they will turn out really well. You can also use fabric ironed onto freezer paper to go through the printer, which would be cheaper, but I thought I'd begin with the kind you buy to see how it went.

Would you be willing to post a link? http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/542935-binding-options/ In that thread I talked about paper spines but these are much better. You can also open the book all the way and fold back the cover.
katilac
http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/542935-binding-options/ In that thread I talked about paper spines but these are much better. You can also open the book all the way and fold back the cover. I'm going to try a couple of these for my notebooks that are more for reference. I'm thinking the ones that I constantly open and fold back will be too hard on it, and I'll wind up with a messy-looking cover. This is what I'm going to try for the daily usage ones (xposted from your linked thread): Okay, I do love my disc-bound notebooks, and I do use some color-coding, but I have way too many notebooks for that to be truly effective. Plus I love the look of neatly labeled notebooks on a shelf. So, I think I am going to attempt to adapt the Smash book idea: I'm going to make the cover that can be neatly labeled, but not adhere the notebook to it. In other words, it will just be for storing the notebooks on the shelf (neatness, labeling), and I will simply pull the disc-bound notebook out when I am ready to use it. FO4UR
Ooohhhh!!!! I love it! :drool5: I've been on a spiral-bound kick lately. (Check the lulu link below. LOL) I am spiral-binding ALL.THE.THINGS! :hurray: (...and when we are done with this school year, we will never have another loose paper ever again....right?) OK - So, I'm thinking about colorful sharpies and a thick, durable canvas fabric. Why did I not think about this before? Why go to the trouble of printing with a computer? Handmade fabric spines would be lovely! We could even cut the fabric to fit the entire cover if we wanted.
