Laurel-in-CA
I am thinking of things to read with my middle schooler over summer that we will both enjoy. I think I am going to go back and pull out the Gene Stratton Porter novels (Laddie, Freckles, Girl of the Limberlost) that I read with my olders and re-read them over the summer with her. What will you-all be reading w/your kids over the summer, or pushing them to read for themselves.?
mmasc
I'm going to be using the Memoria Press read-aloud recommendations. I'll be working on the fourth grade read aloud lists.

HelenNotOfTroy
We will read something, but I read aloud to DS almost every day. He has been asking for The Lord of the Rings trilogy, but I am not sure.
OK Family
Sonlight always comes out with summer reading lists. Last summer we listened to Floors, in the car. The kids loved it!
Chrysalis Academy
We plan to complete the Chronicles of Prydain series as our read outloud this summer. We're finished this up too, and I'm thinking of following up with a couple of related things - Rosemary Sutcliff's version of Arthur, The Sword in the Circle, and The String in the Harp. I'd like to do The Dark is Rising series together eventually, and I want them to be familiar with Arthurian legend first. Plus I think my younger may still be a little young for it. LivingHope
I think it's time tor us to reread Ralph Moody's Little Britches series. We'll have The Little House on the Prairie series done by then.
