Clear Creek
The conference schedule is up! What sessions are you all looking forward to? I am hoping to attend the SWB conferences on beyond elementary school and dealing with home school difficulties. I was pleasantly surprised to see several free sessions, as well...I am planning on attending the one on homeschooling the intense child.
JumpyTheFrog
I can't wait for "Homeschooling Your Intense Child." I've only continued this long because I'm too stubborn (on this issue) to give up and send my intense child to school.
Lucy the Valiant
These look so good! The writing one looks useful! (Though shouldn't it say "Everyone Can Teach His Child . . ." instead of "Their Child" ? I think systems differ on whether "everyone" is singular or plural. Or I've been spending too much time with SAT grammar. ) Regardless, I will be attending! . . . The science one looks interesting, too, as does the Latin mile marker one. Oh, what a wonderful idea! I'm very excited about this, Susan! Thank you!
naturalmom
I am so excited about this! What great speakers - Richard Rusczyk, Carol Reynolds, Bernard Nebel, Ed Zaccaro, and of course Susan Wise Bauer! And I am especially glad it's all online, because I wouldn't be able to make it to a regular conference!
PeachyDoodle
I am so excited!! Definitely doing Beyond Elementary School, How/Why Science Needs to Be Taught Differently, Problem Solving, Taking the Mystery out of Conceptual Math. I think all of those were on my "wish list" on SWB's conference thread! Might throw the Latin one in there too! I'm trying to decide if ds4 is an "intense child" or not. Is that one of those things that if you're not sure, you don't have one? :D

Sorry. :p
RosieCotton
Super cool! Thanks Susan!! :hurray: I'll be ready with my raspberry latte and slippers! (Wow I do kinda miss going to conferences but there is just no way . . .so this is so nice to have this option!) I'm looking at the Difficulties one, the Latin one since we are digging in now, and maybe another one too. Oh Happy Day!!
meena
Yay! I'm so excited! This looks to be the kind of conference I've been seeking, to no avail, for years--encouraging yet still meaty and on-point.
zarabellesmom
Oooh. I'm so excited. I signed up for a couple of the free ones and will grab some others when I've got money. I'm looking at This Isn't as Easy as I Thought, Beyond Elementary School, and Everyone Can Teach ____ Child to Write. ;) Not sure which word goes in the blank, his or their. ;) I'm so excited because I <3 Richard Rusczyk and Susan Wise Bauer. I'm in homeschool heaven.
AmyontheFarm
I'm looking forward to: Beyond Elementary School: Approaching the Upper Years With Confidence and Teaching History through Fine Arts: How to Improve your Student’s Understanding and Enjoyment of the Past
Southern Ivy
Definitely signing up for the intense child. She's already showing signs, so I'd better get my arsenal ready. Going to look through them a bit more later. Super excited for this.
ErinE
Along with Rusczyk and Bauer, I've also registered for Kern, Nebel, and the Intense Child session. Is that fairfarmhand as the speaker?

Oh, what a wonderful idea! I'm very excited about this, Susan! Thank you! 'Everyone' is indeed singular. However, for the last couple of decades, it has become common to use 'their' instead of his/her in order to be gender neutral - so I assume that was the intent... sassenach
My only complaint- I wish there was one flat rate for all of the sessions rather that the $20 groupings.
RootAnn
My only complaint- I wish there was one flat rate for all of the sessions rather that the $20 groupings. I wonder if they can add a "any & all for $x" option. But what would be a good flat rate to suggest?
swellmomma
I'm bummed, I don't get to go to any. They pretty much all occur while I am at work. The downside of being a working homeschooler, the few that occur in the evenings conflict with the kids extracurrics. Things do not wind down her until the end of JUne when school lets out for summer. Unfortunately this is over before then. It's not really a summer series since it ends before the first day of summer...it is a spring series. Very cool options of talks, just bummed to miss out on all the fun. Spring Flower
I have a question about pricing. I noticed that Andrew Kern's writing workshop is broken into three sessions over a three week period. (Same for Dr. Nebel's science workshop.) Is it $20 for all three or $20 each? Under the "register" page I only see the first session listed. Clear Creek
My only complaint- I wish there was one flat rate for all of the sessions rather that the $20 groupings. I think they had to do it that way because there are limited seats for each workshop (100 seats for the paid sessions, 300 for the free sessions) so that requires registration for each individual workshop.

The prices are listed on the registration page and the pages linked from the registration page, but not on the pages linked from the agenda page (which is a bit odd). I would think that they would want to have the prices and number of available seats left listed on all the pages pertaining to each workshop. Susan Wise Bauer
Yep, it's $20 for all three sessions. Less than $7 per workshop. A steal. Clear Creek--wish we could have customized the store/site a bit more to do what you suggest, but it would have been quite a bit of additional coding, so we decided to go ahead and get the site up sooner. Maybe next year! SWB

ForeverFamily
I am really excited! Above The Rowan
The limited seating is making me nervous! I can't register til payday this week, so hopefully the sessions I want are still open in a couple of days. Some friends and I were just having a discussion, should seating become closed for various sessions, we were thinking of getting together to watch it all together and share the cost. Would be like a mini-conference in our homes - with pj's and wine lol.
Clear Creek
Wow, really? Limited seats? Why is that, for an online conference? There is probably some technical reason I'm clueless about, but it changes my strategy as well . . . My guess would be that they decided to limit it so the 30-40 minutes of Q&A during the paid workshops would be truly interactive. I have been to webinars for my job that had fewer than 100 people in attendance and webinars that had several hundred people in attendance, and they had a distinctly different feel to them. The webinars with smaller attendance allowed for much more discussion and increased the chances of my questions actually getting answered. The webinars with a large number of attendees felt like a college survey course in a large lecture hall, where I was one in a crowd of 500 and the instructor's goal was lecturing, not class participation. On the registration page for Ed Zaccaro's workshop here it says 100 in stock. It was recently posted (since yesterday), so it looks like no one has registered for it yet. On the Beyond Elementary School workshop registration page here, it says 73 in stock.
