Mt. Washmore shall be conquered today! I finally have a working dryer, so it doesn't take 24+ hours to dry a load of clothing.

I haven't washed bedding in two weeks, so all of my allergic kids have been walking around with deep circles. Dd turned to me yesterday and said, "I look like I'm middle aged! I'm in sweats and I have these dark marks under my eyes!"   Thanks, honey. 😂

I don't know what to do.  I am peeing blood.  I am pretty sure that it is a kidney stone (my diagnosis has changed over time).  I did a OTC urinalysis that shows leukocytes and no nitrites.  The easy thing would be to go to the doctor for a more definitive test/ diagnosis.  BUT - I am already scheduled to see this doc next week along with a whole bushel of tests and I don't really want to go today and then again next week for tests and then the next day for the actual appointment (which is how the labwork is done).  If I go, I should probably go now but dd is asleep, dh is out of town and my bloodsugars are insanely high which is going to throw off my diabetes tests for sure.  So I am back to "I don't know what to do".  (I am very used to kidney stones and have never needed intervention but I don't want to ignore possible infection either. . . )

Is there a nearby walk-in clinic you can pop into real quick?  Or are things too complicated overall for one of those?

Call in to whomever your managing doctor is.  You're complicated enough that in your circle of specialists someone should probably be your managing doctor.  Either they'll work you in or tell you to wait it out.  Your dd is old enough to manage life on her own (or to go with you to be your backup should you crash and need someone to articulate for you).

Paige, I'm glad Baby is better.

Jean, does this not merit an ER visit?

No.   My pain is not bad.  Last time I went to the ER for kidney stones they didn't really believe me until they did a scan and were so surprised that I was still sitting around cracking jokes.  But anyway, they just told me to go to my doctor for the actual treatment once they diagnosed the stones.

Called triage nurse at my primary doctor's office.  He talked to my doctor.  I am scheduled to see a nurse practitioner a bit later today.

Educents is closing. If you missed the story this is the company that overcharged me $20 after I placed the order for a lower amount then refused to return my phone calls. If I called them they put me on hold and never came back. It was absolutely ridiculous behavior.

Booya jerkfaces!

(Not you. I never really got over how much time they cost me and how awful they treated me.)

If this paint doesn't work, that's where I'm going next.  I like the shade because it's up permanently but not open all the time.  So it's easy for me to open it quickly and then put it away quickly.  We can't just paint a section of wall because there's a chair rail that messes it up.  That also means anything hanging has to hang in front of the chair rail and be stiff enough to hang straight.

Ds said "If it is painted, go for a matte, primer first.  And do multiple coats for evenness".

He also said "If you use a curtain you'll want it as flat as possible, perhaps even pinned taut to the wall".

Then he said (and this is where he lost me!):  "Color key algorithms are based on similarity of pixels.  Bright green and bright blue are used because they're different to most things and any reflection onto actors tends to blend into the back grounds. "

Keep your fingers crossed, ladies.  I think I was able to score most of what I need for ds's calculus class next year for under $50, used, through some textbook resellers.  I really don't want to have to pay the Chalkdust prices for Larson's calculus on a single variable ($524).  It's 8e instead of 11e, but calculus hasn't changed a lot. 😂

I have never heard of that kind of cheese.  Is it good?

It was tasty!  A kind of cheddar maybe?

It's a regular roll-up window shade.  Definitely doing multiple coats, but I bought two cans of paint and they didn't even do one very light coat.

Can't pin flat to wall with chair rail unfortunately.

I think I'm going to take a bright green fabric I bought at Walmart to use as an accessory piece (we do a lot of effects like floating heads), see if it's big enough (buy more if not) and glue that to the roll-up shade.  Then it should still roll-up, will hang in front of the chair rail and just be like a really really thick coat of paint.   Seems like it should work right?

ETA:  I knew the pixels thingy.  Some groups we get into a bigger discussion of what it is and how it works (others we just have fun).

I'm fairly certain that MIL is trying to manipulate us into moving to Indiana through John and the things she's saying are making him sad and stressed so I'm going to have to limit contact for a while. Things he's said:

  • Daddy will have an easier time getting a job in IN (untrue).
  • We will have more money to do more fun things if we move to IN (untrue).
  • We won't see Mamoo and Papa anymore if we move to TX instead of IN (this is exactly how she words it).

I don't know how but somehow she believes that moving to San Antonio will mean seeing her less. She knows it's driving distance and that flights are 1/4 the price but she thinks after we move we'll never go up or let them come visit us. She's even cried begging us to stay here because then at least she'll still get to visit. We have tried to explain that it will be better after we move but there is some kind of disconnect between what we say and what she hears. Or she doesn't believe us. I don't know.

I am back. No, it is not normal to hav AF more than a year after menopause. Hence, we get to have an ultrasound. Yay!! And, because i’ve Been an especially bad girl and haven’t been taking care of myself, I get to schedule a mammogram at the same time. I am just so excited. I liked Junie’s answer in that other thread. I’m gonna need a reward.

Yes, please limit contact with lots of hugs and reassurances for him ((Slache and John)).

Sorry honey (MIL), that ship has sailed.

You can tell John that he has a ton of ITT aunties in TX and that even though I tried really hard to convince you to move to TN, I know TX will be the most awesomest place for you. ‘Cause TEXAS!

I think it’s mainly weird that she would think you might change your moving plans based on the advice of an 8yo.

Last ditch effort? She has suggested everything from we can move in with them until we have money for a house, maybe we should move to different states since we can't agree, we should stay here so that we can use all of the money we have saved for moving to visit her more frequently... She thinks weird things. She's also extraordinary stressed because she has taken a huge loan out for this wedding and has given the money to all sorts of other people and now has to pay for the wedding and the loan, and she recently got a cancer diagnosis that turned out to not be cancer but she has to have surgery and it's all a big, massive, stressful, expensive thing.

I think it's that I've manipulated the family into something that isn't God's plan and if they hear the truth enough they'll come to their senses.

Of course! 🙄

I remember for years and years MIL (and the rest of the in-laws) tried to get us to move to NY. Free house, job in the family business (that paid “way more” than dh’s job).  Plus, NY has Chinese restaurants and a jazz radio station! (Okey dokey then! 🤣)

Then God started speaking to MIL in dreams and all kinds of modes and manners. Sadly, he didn’t seem to advise her against taking a business loan from organized crime. God probably felt that was just common sense. 🙄

She doesn't get special revelation through dreams, she can just feel it. I told her when God reveals something he reveals at to all parties involved. It made her mad but she dropped it.

I took dd10 to the eye doctor this morning.  She needs bifocals.  Sigh.

Dd8 just "outgrew" her bifocals a few months ago.  Now dd10 needs them.  I hope they help her.

Her distance vision is getting better.  I think with correction her distance vision will now be 20/35.

Uncorrected, dd10's vision is 20/400.  She can read the E.

I forgot (I think?) to mention that yesterday was week 9 of my steps.  I'd say I'm catching up with Jean but that's not how math works except that I learned math in California Public Schools so that's kind of how math works, so I'm catching up with Jean!

Dodododo. Dodododo.
