The girls’ room is done. I reclaimed about 30 pencils, including two of my Mirado Black Warriors pencils  (back <2010,when they were still good.) I am down to my last six pencils, so this is a bonus.

No, lol, just watching from home.  I've never been to the Derby.  My brother is there today as a photographer!

Slache, why can't you do whole30 and Matt do keto?  All you have to do is each avoid certain things, right?  We never do the whole thing as a family unit, but incorporate each of the parts, mostly.

I am finally home!  After I dropped of teens, I went to the AFSA to finish grocery shopping.  Apparently, I spend way more in person than online!  Ugh!

I have clothes in the dryer and chicken soaking in salt water.  I guess I'll have to fold laundry and cook at aome point tonight.  And clip chickens' wings and maybe clean out the coop.

First, I will look at my new book that just got here in the mail.

Coop is clean and wings are clipped.  I scooped litter, and dd and I each have hair color timing right now.

We watched four minutes of the Kentucky Derby.  The important four minutes.

We did not wear hats.  We did not drink mint juleps.  We did not win $200.

I had a mint julep without the julep. Which would be sweetened mint-water on the rocks.

I think I'm just about done.  Hair color finished, laundry folded and my part put away, dishwasher loaded and set, coffee pot set, 2 kinds of chicken cooked and 2 kinds of green beans cooked, along with the stuff in the previous post.

Second sketch done. I'm doing the same photo for both grandmothers. I have a special photo I want to do just for myself. My art teacher encouraged me to get a little impressionistic with it, and I'm looking forward to the experiment. But for the grandmas, a close up portrait is perfect.

Dh came home ill from the camp out. I am not sure whether he showered before crawling in bed. Also not sure if I should leave all of his muddy gear in the entry or clean and sort it away. He is sleeping so I can’t ask. Guess I can at least air out his gear and start laundry...

My ds13 and dd11 get to go to the Kentucky Derby Museum next Saturday!  They are super excited.  I should have them watch a bit of video from today's race.

You’re so cool, Critter. Our grandmas are getting a little pot with a half dead succulent in it. Well, i’m Hoping it perks up in a week.

I just finished a good book. “Calico Joe” by John Grisham. It’s in the “Book with a two-word title” category of my book challenge. I was in to John Grisham a long time ago, but got burnt out from his lawyer novels. This was a really good book. It’s a baseball book, and I am not particularly in to baseball, but this was a very good book. He’s a good writer.

It's good practice for me. I needed to work on portraits. Been painting a lot of flowers lately.

Do Whole30 and buy Matt a chunk of cheese.  Everyone wins!

The only way that we can afford for me to eat in a way that works the best for my health involves buying lots of sweet potatoes, potatoes, eggplants and other inexpensive fillers. If he were not eating those we would not be able to afford Whole30 and I would feel like this all of the time.

Also, with my chronic nausea he has to make all of the meals and he does not want to make two dinners every night.

Oh, sorry.  Showing my ignorance, lol.  He's a free lance photographer, but sometimes does work for publications, and in fact may have been representing one at the Derby - I'm not sure.

  Good Morning!  Coffee!

One of the three culprits of sleep deprivation (cat, noisy birds or snoring dh) struck again last night.  I will not name names, but he does not purr or tweet.  I might need a nap this afternoon.

Good morning!  It's Sunday!

We'll go to early service, come home for an early lunch and then Grandma and Grandpa will head back home, dh will bring 3 kids to orchestra dress rehearsal and recital rehearsal, and I will bring dd19 back to her university.

Coffee!

Grd mrfing. No culprits of sleep deprivation here, I just went to bed late and didn't want to wake up this morning when the sun told me I had to get up. DH went to get groceries. I need to revise, put the revisions in, then work on painting, fix the school schedule and I have to help with a project this afternoon. Lazy Sunday not so much.

Good Morning!!!

COFFEE!!!~D

Sunday!!!!

Church!!?

Parent meeting mid-afternoon. I hate going to those meetings. Kind of boring.

I was asked to be on the youth committee at church. I don’t have the time or energy, but I feel like I should. We really support the youth pastor. He is a good guy and he’s got his head on straight. And he’s not one to just entertain them all the time, just to keep numbers up. He is really committed to teaching the kids about Scriptural truths and service to others. This makes him unpopular with some who think we should do whatever it takes (water down Scripture, don’t get too deep or you’ll chase kids away) to just get kids through the door.

We have a major issue with portrait painting. The paper I picked is absolutely terrible. It's soaking up water like rice paper and colors run everywhere. Good thing I found that out today and not later this week. I have a single sheet of good cold press that I can split into two. Looks like I get to retrace the portraits two more times.

Live and learn. Glad I only bought one sheet. I think I'll save the line drawings and let the boys color them in with watercolor pencils if they'd like.

It's because they came from AFSA.

I tried on a couple maxi dresses at kohls the other day, but it was not a good look for me (prolly too old to arouse suspicions of pregnancy, but not taking the chance, lol). I used kohls cash to buy a new bed pillow instead. (Shopping is not the thrill it used to be, lol).

We keep going to spend the Kohl's cash we have, and they keep giving us more.  I am headed back today to buy a couple of bathroom rugs and a non-skid runner for part of the living room floor.

I wish that I didn't have to force myself to do everything.  Roll out of bed in the morning?  Force myself to do it.  (My bladder helps force me.  ?  )

Pooper scoop?  Force myself to do it.  OK - probably everyone has to force themselves to do that.

Go for a walk with my friend?  Force myself to do it.

Go to this graduation this morning for my friend?  Force myself to do it.

There is an achy component to everything I do.  I think that's why I don't want to do anything.  I want to be like the puppy who does everything with joyous abandon.

I need to get DH thinking about Mother's Day for his mom.  So far all we have is the megaphone my girls got for her at Kohl's.

Yesterday the girls had their music recital.  After that we stopped at a different library branch so DD13 could pick up a book she reserved.  Then we went out for early dinner, and it turned out it was early Mother's Day dinner for me -- we went to the place I had mentioned I would like to go to for Mother's Day.  Next weekend will be a bit busy AND they have yet another sporting event to gum up the traffic (WHY do this on Mother's Day weekend?), and we didn't have to make any special reservations, either.  Next weekend we can try to focus on DH's mom.

Our pastor's sermon was particularly amazing this morning - preaching on the awkward passage at the end of Genesis 9 (Noah drunk and naked).  Dh is picking up fried chicken for lunch and then we will all head out in different directions.  I'm hoping tonight we can find some dry wood to start a fire in the fire pit and roast marshmallows.
