Coffee! It's raining and I woke up to DD(10) cooking a "surprise" and she's not the DD who knows how to cook so it was more like a disaster. So MORE coffee!!

And DH is on his 1st full day at work since Feb so I have to actually be the parent when I'm used to being the lazy. Coffee, coffee, coffee, then I will go to Target and buy more coffee!

Yay, Paige for Mr. Paige’s job. Boo for messy kitchens.

Good morning!

Jean, would it help to wrap your foot?  That sounds miserable!

I discovered this morning on the way to Fiddle Camp that holding up your phone like you are taking a picture or video out the back window can be an effective way to get someone to stop tailing you.  :tophat:

More coffee!

Also, there is another bagpipe band in town. We hadn't considered it because its rehearsal site is quite a distance from us, but maybe we'll rethink that. Not until September, though; Mr. Ellie has several Gideon and barbershop group activities coming up and he can't even at this moment.

Matt is home sick and just left for the doctor. He thinks he has strep throat which he thinks he has every year but has never actually had. I was supposed to get up and start working out as soon as he left but instead I'm laying in bed, drinking coffee and reading manga.

Susan, I was thinking of wrapping it.  I'm also thinking of getting new shoes because mine are old and are probably not helping the situation.

Good morning.  I am seriously thinking of doing research into tiny houses.  Can they be wired for electricity?  And do they have actual plumbing?  Can you fit a bathtub in one?  I would want a place to sleep with no interruptions - including no husband who puts on the light at 2:30 at night and then goes down to his office with absolutely no thought of me still trying to sleep.  And yes, I'm still mad about it.  Plus, it would give me a place to be even when we have guests.  I've never had a guest who wasn't nice - including this one - but it is a bit of a strain.  The boys have taken over the entire living room.  (I am going to put my foot down today and will make them put away some of the camping gear that is cluttering up the place.)  And the bathrooms are getting an extra workout.  And I have to admit to still feeling a bit stressed about a guest who has subsisted for an entire week on only trail mix no matter how many choices I put out.  (And I know that is on him but it makes me feel like a bad hostess, you know?)

Yes, yes, yes. Campers are less expensive and more convenient. You might not legally be allowed to put another residence, such as a tiny house on your property, but a camper is not a residence, it's a recreational vehicle.

But tiny houses look cooler.  ?

There are some super cool retro ones that are being made now.  Or you could make your kids and dh and guests refurbish an old bus or something into an awesome Woman Cave for you.

No strep.

Yay!  I will mention, for the purposes of support and commiseration, that for many years (in his 20's and 30's) dh would get several EKGs every year because he would get under stress and then be certain he was having a heart attack and rush to the doctor to get checked out.

That sounds fun. Especially after the first 5 times.

Matt and I are polar opposites in this regard. He gets a hang nail and has to go to the ER. My arm falls off and I ask for the super glue. We make each other insane.

Edpo - Warning - Avert your eyes.  Draw up the Drawbridge.  Release the hounds.

I spent time going over the information I got on dyslexia with dd.  I gave her a couple of screening tests.  She did exactly as I suspected on the lower level tests.  She did worse than I expected on the higher level tests.  I feel a bit embarrassed about this since I do have my degree in this.  But we just haven't done specific tests before at the higher level.  Anyway. . .   dd wants evals.  Now to figure out how to make that happen. . .

Dh and ds13 are on their way home from scout camp.  Wally is doing his thing.  We're having coconut lime chicken curry soup for dinner and strawberry-peach shortcakes for dessert.  Did I tell you about my peaches?  Most of them were pretty baseball hard yesterday, so I put them in paper grocery bags and today they are tennis ball hard.  At this rate, they should be ready to use by tomorrow.  I checked on the 5 end-of-year books that haven't come yet, and have been offered refunds.  "Possibly lost in the mail".

I killed 3 Bird Poop Bugs today.

I finished A Man Called Ove and the James Patterson book, and next available from the PBS 100 Great American Reads list is Atlas Shrugged.  I got an audiobook.

That's all the news from Lake Woebegone.

Well, I did once go see a specialist because I was certain I had diabetes.  I'm usually a very logical person.  And boo Ya!

Did I tell y'all that we leave on Monday for a West Coast trip? Visiting family over yonder. Also Magic Mountain. We haven't been there in over 30 years. o_0

Well, shoot. I would meet you for lunch somewhere like Bakersfield except that we are going to be at Family Camp in the Santa Cruz mountains all week.

Didn’t you just love Ove? I swear, I had to take a moment when I finished that book, just to savor it.

VBS is over. They had water day for recreation. Got a huge plastic tarp, dish soap and hoses. Voila’, a Redneck Waterslide. The kids had a blast. We had several young men on staff who just got dog piled in all that wet soapy mess. The kids just had so much fun with them!!

Recipe?  Pretty please?

I will post the recipe shortly. It’s very easy and tasty. It only makes one loaf, so it’s perfect for a meal. Sometimes I double it, freeze the extra loaf and use it for French toast. It makes excellent French toast.

Ok, I'm thinking that we should have them by this time next year.  It's going to be mt reward for paying off two debts.

I have one picked out that vacuumes and lightly mops. It's an off-brand with great reviews for $180. I imagine name brand is better but I'm not spending $600 on a vacuum. I'm hoping it will replace my vacuum and swiffer and I will keep my mop? I don't know.

Link please, so I can put it on my Amazon wish list!  And I wholeheartedly agree with not paying $600 for a vacuum, for an actual maid but not a vacuum, lol

Again?  Didn't you just get back from an amazing Family Camp in the mountains?  (Can I come?)  Really, though, you could probably do with another couple weeks in the mountains.

Loved it!  So. Much.  (I'm glad I listened to the audiobook so I can pronounce it correctly.)

Guys, do I want a roomba?

Yes!  I have a "Dibea" named Wally.  Wally II, actually.  The first Wally got his sensors messed up so they sent us a new one.  I plan to get his mopping adaptor soon.

Today's lesson: Fivel had terrible parents. Not because they lost him, but because they lost his younger brother half way through the movie and never noticed.

I've only seen it for $180-$190 so I'm sure it will go down.

I am at pg 18 of my 30 page revision of this short story. I ought to be done, but I am tired. After dinner I will keep nibbling at it until it is done. Never did stop feeling low today. Summer is hitting me hard.

((Critter)) You need a vacation home in Antarctica. Isn’t it mostly dark there this time of year? Or perhaps a sweet little cabin on one of those islands in Tierra del Fuego. The ITT Island South American Compound.
