Taking day shift for MIL’s death watch today. Not a barrel of laughs but I think that there is some honor in walking part of the way through the “valley of the shadow of death “ with someone.

I’ve never done that before, Jean, but I think you are right, it is an honor and a privilege. I prayed for you and your family this morning and will continue to do throughOut the day. May His mercy and peace be with your family.

Yes, I have a routine that incorporates school and housework but I have other goals like my 100 book challenge, lose 82 pounds and learn to play guitar, so my top 3 might be 20 minutes guitar, read before bed and walk the kids.

Hi, Bookie!

Update for me: Still on the agent hunt, but delaying further queries at this point because I signed on the dotted line with an editor to work through a developmental edit for my story. I've never spent so much on my writing, but I just have a hunch this story is worth it, and I hope to learn a lot and grow as a writer. The boys planted fifteen hills of squash in the garden. I lost most of my seedlings to the bad spring weather, but low and behold, some of the tomatoes and peppers are rebounding and beginning to grow now. I lost a writing contest and entered another one, mostly to prove I could get back up on the horse again even if it hurt. My art instructor invited me to participate in an art exhibition she is planning for next spring--and I'm expected to frame and sell paintings. Gasp. I said I'd do it. Which means I'll be busting my tail for the rest of the year to accumulate enough pieces for sale...

I organized my art supplies, bought a few tubes of paint I needed, and generally prepared for painting. My boy wants me to finish a picture of pumpkins I started last fall but didn't finish. I think I'll just give it to him when I'm done. I want to go shoot some waterfalls this weekend with my new phone.

Does she like music?  Soothing music played from a phone for a bit can help pass the hours. There's a fair bit of evidence that hearing is one of the last things to go, and is still present during twilight coma.

If I have 6 goal categories, with 2 daily target tasks per category, is that too much?

I just kind of list the things I want to do and see if I can get them done. School, housekeeping, Latin, reading, etc. it doesn’t always get done,  but I try.

Can someone tell me what :svengo: means? I'm a naive newbie...

It's an old emoji that doesn't work anymore. He raises his hand to his face and falls over backwards. Very relatable. We still use him in protest of the fact that he no longer works.

How is she Doing?

Ok. She sleeps much of the time. The ice cream was the first food in three days. She gets restless and tries to get out of bed. I would sing to her and she would settle down.  She was coherent and knew us for awhile but other times doesn’t. I was letting her suck on these sponge things until she tried to eat the sponge.

Dh is exhausted. I told him to stay home and sleep. I will pick up his cousin who is coming down from Canada.

Chickens exercised. Dogs walked. Dinner cooked, eaten and put away, although the dishes seem to have spawned while I wasn't watching. A chapter edited and nine pages revised.

I'd better go deal with the dishes before it gets worse.

I cleaned the kitchen and washed the dishes and refilled the sugar jar and wiped down the sink and gathered trail mix components and did more repair work on the water bag and took some ibuprofin for knee and female issues pain and gave the water kefir more sugar water and mineral drops and rewarded myself with a cup of hot cocoa.    Now imma sit here.

Giving myself a 1/5 on an interview that was not labeled as technical. He just started out with technical questions--it was the second interview!

I'd reviewed company information, not tech skills, and have been out of coding for like 2 years. Ack! It was awful. Well, on the plus side, my brain is spinning with review questions, and frankly I think that role would have been a step down in terms of leadership (but up in technical skills) so maybe it's for the best. I did ask for feedback and say thank you for the great questions, so hopefully it's constructive.

Good morning!  It's Friday!!

I'm sorry Tsuga - that's rough.  The interviewer might have had a more positive perspective, though.

If any of you are so inclined, will you pray for ds22 who is having a "go out for coffee" preliminary job interview today?

I have many stores to go to today to pick up misc. last-minute backpacking supplies.  I will plead with the kids to do as much tidying of the house as they can stand.  Also laundry.

Hows things, Jeannie?

So. Much. Coffee.

Good morning. I dreamed of thunderstorms, and carrying a cat carrier through the rain. The cat wasn't pleased. I got soaked.

Caffeine and then back to editing. I have to put the revisions in this morning, print out the hard copy of the next chapter, run it through Autocrit, expose it to my own list of editing checks, and start the revisions. I'm aiming to manage 2.5 chapters a week, 3 if the revisions are not intense.

Good Morning!  COFFEE!

Tsuga - I agree with Susan.  It probably went better than you think.

Susan, best wishes for efficient errand running and prayers for ds's coffee meeting!!!!!!

Happy movie night Angi!  Happy editing Critter!

I'm still recovering from a late night and an early morning.  Late night from local homeschool production of Hello Dolly - it was amazing!  Early morning from 4/7 of the family leaving on a camping trip.  Today is the calm eye of the storm before 2 more crazy days - youth orchestra audition, swim meet, cast party.

Good morning. (sneeze, sneeze, cough, cough) Allergies and rain and changes in temps and air pressure are trying to kill us all. It's days like these when I wish we were homeschooling.

I had a meeting at school yesterday to discuss DS. He has IEPs and 504s because of his hearing loss. They LOVE him at school. It was so nice to hear because he can be difficult, but I think he's so challenging at home because he is putting so much effort into being good at school. I know it was the right thing to do to send him there because he loves me too much to work well for me. All of his teacher's submitted comments, some were at the meeting to talk with me, and then there were the specialists as well. They can't fake that kind of genuine love and admiration. It was such a relief! Then I got to tell DS all about is and let him fluff his feathers and be all awe, shucks, which was adorable.

Now his poor sisters have a lot to live up to!

Good Morning!!!

COFFEE!!!!!~D

Friday!!!(yay)

There is nothing on the calendar for today. Yay!!

((Tsuga))

Welcome, Learning!!

Glad you had a good meeting, Paige!! It’s nice to hear good thzings about one’s kid.

Go, Lynn!!! You can do it!! “Yay, Lynn, she’s our (wo)man!! If she can’t do it, no one can!!”

Movie night sounds like fun, Angi. We’re having Family Movie Night at Home tonight. I noticed my all time favorite tv show as a kid is now on Amazon Prime “Just some good ol’ boys, never meanin’ no harm....” so I figured it was time to introduce the kids to Bo and Luke Duke.

Jeannie, how is MIL this morning?

That’s an interesting dream, Critter. What’s been hiding in your anxiety closet?

Crack the whip in those kids, Susan!!

Bookmom, it’s so good to see you back.
