Here's what I want - one bowl of vanilla frozen custard with heath bars, almonds, and fudge sauce.  In another bowl, I want vanilla frozen custard on top of a fudgey brownie, drizzled with peanut butter, and topped with a mountain of whipped cream.

#fastingtodayandsohungryrightnow

I love frozen custard. We don’t have it in California, but I had it several times on a visit to Wisconsin. I loved it.

You know, saying "ignore this thread" to this group is like saying "don't push the big red button!"

Homeschoolers.     They always think the rules don't apply to them.

Coming out of my long time lurking because I couldn't ignore this thread..  :leaving:

I'm always here late at night to keep us good for the morning.

Mom/fam fail: the wee one fell asleep while we were still cooking dinner. That's not because she is sick. It is because we started a half hour before her bed time. (:/

Ikslo, we use the Disney Circle app for screen time. I'm a fan. They can buy data themselves of they want more. But they are cheap.

The thing is, he really isn’t on his iPad, I don’t think.  He plays Legos, stares at the wall, thinks his thoughts, eats, tears up paper, and spends two hours on one math problem or one page of reading. He has worse focus now this year than when he was 5.  Frustrating.

Taking away iPad, though, is the only thing that motivates him right now.

(((ikslo)))  For a minute I thought you said he eats paper.    We SO want to be done here too.  Actually, most of us are finished.  The one who isn't glares at me most of the time.    As a side note (ed po warning) I really wish Saxon would wind down at the end of a book instead of ramp up, or that my one saxon student could learn with a different text, but that has proven unsuccessful every time we've tried it.  I should look at the algebra 1 book and figure out how to make the end of the year happen differently for next year....  <walks off muttering to self about math text books......>

Wish I knew a great suggestion for helping with focus.  Would he be interested in calling or texting you after he completes individual tasks?  Would that help any?

A spider greeted me in the shower this morning. I sent him on his way to heaven.

We have a strict inside/outside policy here. Outside, I totally respect your habitat, or will move you gently aside if I need to access something in my garden shed.  Inside, this is my habitat and you are not welcome.

We escort spiders outdoors (and they're all named Bitsy). All others are subject to execution, the penalty for trespassing.

He also just wants to be done with school for the year.  I don’t blame him. ?

This is us. But we do school in the summer anyway to take off more time in the fall. It's going to be a million degrees by June anyway.

My least favorite whine currently is the "Mom, I didn't have time to do what I wanted to do today!" Often accompanied by "I never get to write," or "I never got to launch a balloon" or "I never have time to do _____." Usually delivered by a boy delaying bedtime while I frantically paint, edit, revise or do dishes. It's the nature of the turtle, though. There's never enough time to do everything we need to do.

Booyah!

Ti-ii-ee-ime is not on my side! No, it's not!

I should try to till the garden today. One hour of tilling needs to be booked into the busy day.

I misread that and thought you said you were going to try to kill the garden. ?   I need to hula hoe ours. My goal this season is to keep the weeds down.

And I have a question for you all. Do you guys know what a hula hoe is? When I was working overseas with a lot of non-California Americans and I mentioned the hula hoe, all I got was derisive mocking. They had never heard of it. Do you guys know what a hula hoe is?

Yay, Tsuga!! I knew someone would be able to keep us from falling into the Pit of Despair.

I believe I do. Is it a hoe with a circular blade on the end, useful for cutting roots below ground level?

That’s my plan for when we move down to FL.  Right now the weather is nice here.  And we skipped our last scheduled week off because we fell behind.  In hindsight, I should have just taken the week off.  But PA/testing year.

My boys are asking when our next scheduled break will be. I said I wouldn't tell them. Every time we plan a week off, it pours rain, or something comes up and we can't do anything fun. I said I would sneak up on the next one and maybe it wouldn't get away from us.

Ding ding ding ding!! We have a winner. Yes, that is what a hula hoe is. And the blade is on a hinge so it goes back and forth (hence the name). It is the most wonderful invention for weeding a garden, yet few people (outside of our area of California) know what they are.

Good morning. I can't get my kids to start the day because they're Lincoln Logging.

What I think he needs is more outside time, but I work and DH sleeps.  ?

Can you two start running together? I know nothing of your schedule so I apologize if that's ridiculous, but it will mean a lot of exertion in condensed time and would be good for him.

We’re getting kittens today. I promised DD1 for her birthday (in March, but there are no kittens in March) and since my beloved Nikki passed on last month, I want another kitty. I will report on that development later on in the day.

I saw one for sale in a garden catalog. I didn't buy one because my soil grow rocks like potatoes. I'd bend that thing in no time flat.

No, I'm supposed to fill the raised beds and till the garden. I will likely have blistered hands by the end of the day, but I'll wear gloves.

I'm working on back vocabulary for French and Latin cards right now. My red highlighter is about to die. I shopped for a replacement last night, but my office supply store had no red highlighters. This is a minor emergency. I need red for my editing work, and I don't want to change colors! I'll use a red sharpie to underline pending replacement.

I am trudging through an allergy-induced fog this week. The worst of it is fatigue. Allergies make me sleepy, but so do allergy meds. So I am doomed to be only half-awake until the pollen levels drop.

I almost missed my step goal yesterday because of it. But I went for a walk just before bed and won. I'm hungry. I guess I should make some food or something.

You can do this.... just open wide and say “ahhhhhh”!

I did better this time!  I'm prone to gingivitis and gum disease so whenever there is minimal bleeding and recession has reversed I get a gold star.

I asked the turtles to save me a little bit of steak to eat for lunch. They left me two gristle bits and a bone. This is why I'm going first in the lunch line from now on.

Well. At least they eat steak. #iswearibreastfed #wasithispicky #arehashtagsgettingold

Solidarity--solidarity. Three years ago, one or the other of them would have turned up his nose at such a lunch.

The plumber is here all day. My reverse osmosis unit is installed and he's off picking up parts for my bathtub repair and for my new hot water heater install. We are upgrading to a 75 gallon tank with a faster recovery.  We haven't all been able to shower in the am before, so this is a huge big deal.  #bigfamilyproblems #happymother'sday
