Coffee. I don’t even drink the stuff. But she messed with their coffee.

   Yeah, that'll get many folks quite riled.

You know, saying "ignore this thread" to this group is like saying "don't push the big red button!"

Homeschoolers.     They always think the rules don't apply to them.

Coming out of my long time lurking because I couldn't ignore this thread..  :leaving:

She said all of her children were potty trained at 18 months. Alex will be 2 in June.

It was *that* woman at church.

Plan To Eat. My applicable recipes are tagged with fast, easy, Whole30, soup, casserole Crockpot/IP etc. This is why when an ITTer says "I need a fast recipe for ground beef" I give them 5 options.

I did not.

Oh, her opinion has already been shown to be questionable at best.  She's just looking for a way to one-up you because she knows how awesome you actually are.

Absolutely.

Hey, did any of you see MD's proposed homeschooling bill thread out in the sea? Someone mentioned that she'd be okay with requiring people to submit a few letters of recommendation when filing to homeschool (not part of the proposed bill), and somehow I'm the only person so far to say no to that idea... kind of surprised. Would y'all be willing to submit a few letters of recommendation along with your letter of intent (also, no idea if she meant annually - here LOIs are annual, but I think in some states they're a one-time thing)?

NO.

Not that math books are questionable and need to be preread, I’m just surprised she didn’t show it to me for the brownie points. Can’t let mom know you’re secretly enjoying math, or something?

Of course she can't let you know!  If you knew you might start assigning more stuff and take all of the fun right out of it!

Unbelievable!! What’s next?? Protractors taped in a baggie in the toilet tank?? Illicit videos showing graphic linear equations??

Forget those linear equations.  Those are straightforward.  It's those curvy parabolas and hyperbolas you have to watch out for.  Some kids will try to conceal those by hiding them in comic books.

I think this must be the Mondayest Monday of the year. Why do we still do this to ourselves?? No Daylight Savings or Daylight Savings all year long- just pick one.

Oh, and my dad is having surgery today. I'm thinking this might not be the best day of the year for that! He's going in later in the afternoon, though, so hopefully the surgeon's DST fog will worn off.

With the massive interruptions our school year has already taken I was considering schooling right through this week, but with two cousin birthdays and an aunt's birthday plus all cousins having the week off school I realized that we wouldn't get much done.  By taking the week off of school I also get to recover a little time to focus on some other stuff, too.  We'll see how much I get done.

I'm letting the kids sleep in this morning, but I'll have to get them up soon.  I want to go do some shopping before I head over to visit Dad this afternoon.

DH has several computers running on the other side of the room from my desk.  I thought his 3D printer was left with the fan running after finishing a job, but it's the computers and external drives that are making all of the noise.  :svengo:   I guess it will be a good day to get run-around stuff done.

Mmmrrf. That about sums up the morning. The boys asked me if I was feeling okay, and the answer was no. Sick at my stomach because somehow six became seven without adding one, and my constitution revolted. When we get a little more sun in the morning I'll be better. Not recovered, but better.

School today whether I feel like it or not.

CF—do you tend towards hypoglycemia? My kids that get nauseous with slight schedule changes are...I bring it up because having a protein snack at bedtime really helps them.

I have the electrician and oven repair person coming this am!

It's possible. About the only thing that resolves the nausea is a cup of hot tea with sugar. If I try to eat right away, the nausea gets worse. So I drink my tea and about an hour later I have some yogurt. As long as I am up around seven, I'm usually not sick at all. I'm only sick with a "certain slant of light", as Dickinson would say.

I hope the repair folks get all fixed for you.

I've got a raft of fantasy novels to get through in the next four weeks, but I also plan to start reading The Sacred Bee--a collection of bee folklore and mythology that I need to review as I work out the history of the bees as it pertains to my next novel. Should be fascinating. There will be a "tell it to the bees" part because that's something that I've read about in the folklore of my state.

Good morning!

We've been busy already. Ds12 did his online speech therapy, I drove ds7 to school, drove dd14 to her religion class.

Diapers have been changed. Kids have breakfasted on yoghurt and frozen pizza.

Gorgeous weather here today.

ugh. Mondayest Monday ever.

We had fun this weekend. A little time off with DH, went to a concert and then a casino. DH had never been to a casino before and I think he liked it a little too much. I won all the money at the roulette table. I am very tired and have not accomplished a single thing today.

Weapon X has a checkup this afternoon. As long as I can pull myself together before 2, I should be alright.

Dd15's teeth are free! The ortho gave her a bag of goodies - popcorn, gum, fruit rollups, and Swedish fish! :D

:001_tt1:  :001_tt1:  :001_tt1:   Congrats to your dd!

My poor ds who has had braces only a couple weeks brought me swedish fish even though he can't have them.  :001_wub:    I had been avoiding them for his sake.

The electrician has come and gone. He fixed all of the hazardous issues (eyeroll at the previous owners) and moved outlets so that my garage freezer and refrigerator can be plugged in.  We survive on bulk-buying and sale-shopping, so having a place to be able to freeze meat/berries/etc. is awesome.

I also washed out my buckets for my bulk grains, and I think I have a lead on bulk buying grains.

I'm super hoping that I can feel fully settled by Easter.

Gorgeous weather here today, too.  This morning I was a horrible grump.  This afternoon I visited Dad, and when I got there he was washing off his little deck (pollen).  After he asked I explained about Yellow Season down here, and said this spring we could expect a stronger pollen season for longer, since our winter was colder.  Still, he left the door to the deck open to let the glorious cool-but-not-cold air inside his place.  He was very upbeat and chipper, and when I left his place my mood was much improved.

I didn't stay long, however.  He repeats things a lot, but when he repeats the same anecdote three times within half an hour it is clear (to me) that he is tiring.

Once I got down to my car to drive away I saw him outside on his deck again, cleaning his deck chairs.  This is the first I have seen him outside on his own volition since he moved down here.  It was good to see.

I need to remember to let DD13 here have a Skittles pig-out before her next orthodontist appointment.  She gets her Herbst out (yay!), but also gets some brackets back on again (aw!).

No Skittles for her for Easter.   :crying:

How in the world could Juliet have gotten down the matches?  They are kept way up above the refrigerator. . .   :svengo:

It's part of her ENB training.  Right now she is working on stealth and agility.

I don't mind daylight savings time.

Gorgeous weather.

I agree with Whitehawk.

Blizzard.  20 inches expected.

The electric company texted their standard-protocol mass-text to say Rest Assured We Have 100 Crews Mobilized and Prepared To Rescue You.

That's 600 crews less than they had assured us about last week.  You know, last week -- when we were out of power for 2.5 days, huddling ourselves around candles in 40 degree temps.

At least I know now how to make Scrambled Eggs by Candlelight.

Recipe for Scrambled Eggs by Candlelight

(serves 1, somewhat inadequately; cook time - 30 minutes)

1.  Light a long-burning candle.

2.  If necessary, Apologize to DH for using the only long-burning candle you can find, a Moss and Thyme scented soy one from Target. Because he hates the scent.

3.  Place inverted colander over top the candle.

4.  Find the broken stainless steel 1 cup measuring cup, and perch it on top of the inverted colander, directly over candle.

5.  Throw pat of butter in measuring cup.  Cover with tin foil

6.  Allow to heat to a sizzle (about 9 minutes).

7.  Add egg.  Do not use milk because ain't nobody gonna open that fridge during this power outage!

8.  Cover again.

9.  Periodically check and scramble until egg has reached desired consistency (approximately 21 minutes).

10.  Repeat six more times for six more eggs to feed six more bellies, because you only have one broken stainless steel 1 cup measuring cup.  By the time you're done, DH may have actually succeeded in digging you out from the blizzard.
