Jean in Newcastle
The one thing to watch out for if you are grading with the help of online study guides (student produced ) is that they can be wrong. We found one mistake and one place where the student just left the problem blank. It was still a great help though. Paige
My jerk cat tried to kill me today. I was trying to give him the medicine that makes him less of a jerk and he lured me closer and closer to the stairs. Then the murderous fiend bolted down those stairs taking me with him. I fell like a 2 year old, hitting every step and rolling the whole way. But he didn’t succeed and now we aren’t friends. He won’t even take treats or catnip from me like I’m the one who tried to kill him! I have a few nasty bruises and my back hurts but considering the fall, it’s amazing how undead I am. And this was after Baby didn’t sleep last night until 7:30am today, and before Starbucks wouldn’t give me my cherry mocha, DD insisted on getting in trouble, and a defective water bottle leaked and made it look like I peed my pants in public. 😢 It hasn’t been the best day.

Critterfixer
Ds10 just came in the room after his bath. He said, "You know, I might not mature when I turn 11, but you know what I hope I DO get? A growth spurd!" Yes, he said spurd. It might feel that way. My boys wore one size of shoe last fall. Now that's getting too tight. They are getting so big. I thought I was going to have until sixteen to look down at them, but I think they might catch me sometime this year.

Tsuga
Thanks, you guys. I love you a bunch, and I'm so thankful for this place. Does anyone now how to get smoke smell out? My dad smokes, and the apartment smells terrible. Nope. Also: Currently taking applications for a stay at home parent. Must be able to drive kids aged 8 - 14 to 12 different activities. Also be able to simultaneously tutor 3 - 5 different math levels, three instruments, four world languages, attend performances for said activities, set up and maintain the family calendar, and clean the house while I'm working. Also join the PTSA and help people sort tee-shirts and sharpen pencils and set up the class valentines party among other things. Social butterflies and people who like to do random home improvements such as re-caulking the bathtub highly preferred. Must not eat a lot or demand vacations however, because this is a high cost of living area and we can't afford another non-working adult. College education highly desired as you should be a great example to the children and well-educated enough to guide them through a rigorous high school education and to college. Salary: $0. Benefits: Might be able to get you on the company insurance. Condescension from society at large guaranteed but I will really value your priceless contribution to our family. By priceless I mean, you won't get paid and you also will sacrifice the last bagel if we run out, because you put the kids first. Seriously though... help.

Critterfixer
My kids signed up for lacrosse tonight! WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME. (It's like hoarding... I grew up watching other kids play sports and do stuff and I can't say no to my own kids... it's just wrong. But lacrosse looks so cool!) In my one year of high school, I was exposed to a variety of sports for the entertainment of those in charge. The only thing I could do was run, and then it took a minimum of a mile before I was really ready to run. Then they gave us about three days of field hockey. The mild-mannered runner discovered she had a latent savage streak with a weapon in hand. I think I would have had a hard time saying no to lacrosse.

AMJ
I upped my step goal from 3000 to 6000 steps. I have gone through some really bad fibro flares in the last month because of it. Conventional medical opinion is that you should slow down and rest if you have a flare. (Which I have always done in the past) but this time I gritted my teeth and walked anyway. Also I am testing my bloodsugar 5x a day. Fasting and two hours post prandial for three meals and one snack. I have been making food choices based on my bloodsugar numbers. My numbers have been coming down. I have also been stocking up on those “Sargento Balanced Break†snacks with are a small amount of cheese and trail mix for snacks. It’s premeasured for me and includes protein. Hooray for improvements! I often will get those same Sargento thingies to take along as small meals when I need to eat at a DD's activity (like long art days or long Aikido evenings).
AMJ
I funeraled yesterday. I hate funerals, but I show up because it matters to the loved ones of the deceased. The wife of the deceased is my friend whom I haven't seen in several months since our schedules simply haven't coordinated. When she's ready we will get together again. This is the first time I have also participated in the long line of cars following the hearse to the cemetery. In other states where I lived the hearse and a few funeral home vehicles containing closest family were escorted, but not all of the rest of the attendee's vehicles. Most everyone stopped and pulled over to the shoulder, even the traffic on the other side of the (not divided) road. We did have one very short incident that left me wondering -- an ambulance with lights and sirens went past going the other way. The rules here are everyone (going in both directions, unless the road is divided) pulls over for ambulances, and it seems to be the same rule for funerals processions. Our procession didn't pull over (and it was led by a police car) and neither did the ambulance -- we just all kept driving. I will have to inquire further as to what is expected in such situations. Since DD13 went to Aikido last night and was thinking of staying for both classes (kids' and adults') I stopped on my way home and picked up Arby's for DD16 and me. DH and DD13 ended up not staying that late at Aikido, and got their own supper on the way home. Starting at bedtime last night my gut started complaining. I have been vehemently refusing to get sick since before we left CO. This might be an objection to last night's supper, or it might be me starting to succumb to something (now that I have a little more time to spare). This morning my gut is unhappy, I have nothing in the house I actually want to eat, and I feel like someone kicked me in a kidney. We are supposed to have Park Day today (a Valentine's Day one), and light rain possible during it. Tomorrow is now predicted to get quite stormy. I told the kids this morning we need to start having class time again, but I don't wanna. I might assign them stuff I want them looking at over the weekend, leave them to the rest, and curl up on the sofa. I wish I had some homemade chicken noodle soup, with Grandma Dommie noodles (a recipe in DH's family, for handmade noodles).

AMJ
PPS for Angi. The stoopid bone broth might be helping with the weight too because I drink it (yes, still) at night and the high protein might keep my sugars stable overnight.
