Another Lynn 44,429
Sounds like Gymnast this morning. I was working on rearranging her morning schedule. I had to move the reading/writing portion, so our conversation went like this: Gymnast: "yeah, move this!" Me: "when should you do it?" Gymnast: "after I die." She doesn't know the rule, does she? 😜

Slache 87,773
It didn't switch to kg or something? Mine likes to switch to the stone setting. I like that since I don't remember how much a stone is but I don't weigh very many of them. When my sister was pregnant in Scotland the midwives always recorded her weight in stones. Nope. Hi all - Haven't read all the days I've missed, but I hope everyone is well. Just popping in to give an update. We just got back from Colorado and kiddo DOES have Auditory Processing Disorder. Poor babySo, is correctly hearing MAYBE 50% of what we say. It's no wonder everything has been such a struggle. The audiologist said that after she gets the ear filter, we should see progress. "Of course she can't remember the sounds or names. Up until now, she's probably only heard the correct sound or name every 3rd or 4th time. That makes it hard." Anyway, this clinic has a filter that they produce themselves. It looks likes a musicians ear piece, but has a small white piece in it that is the actual filter. (description stolen from someone else) 1. It filters out high-frequency tones from the one ear that it is in. This helps with background noise. 2. But the big magic is that it slows down the input into one ear, balancing the input signal in time between both ears. One of the major causes for CAPD can be that one ear is hearing before the other, so by the time the signal from both ears meets in the brain, they are off in time by a microsecond. (Actually what's really going on is that there is more brain circuitry connected to one ear than the other) The ear filter corrects for this. So, Riv was a candidate for the filter and we should receive it in 3 weeks. I tell ya...this mama cried when all my gut feelings were validated. I mean, I knew I was right, but getting other people to listen? It's hard. I'm so happy to have an answer! :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :grouphug: Um, yay? Matt and I have come to the conclusion that I did not, in fact, lose 140 pounds. :(

Critterfixer 54,447
I painted some more on my apples. I don't know about this painting. It's kind of a mess. Thankfully, I didn't use a big bunch of paper for it, and there's still so much work to do that I have hopes it may turn out. If I don't like it, I'll turn it over and paint on the back.

Also another writer delivered a treatise he wrote on how to plan a novel and those "pantsers" who don't can't possibly ever write anything good, or at best are time wasters. Somebody forgot to tell that to Stephen King, I guess. I am a pantser. I invent my characters as they come to me, I let the story run and let it develop the characters and see the characters develop the story and then I revise the daylight into it afterwards. Seems to work for me.

My soil ammendments have arrived (free shipping from Home Depot). It is supposed to continue raining until tomorrow so I might be able to get some things done Thursday. I printed out a bunch of free garden journal pages, many of which look actually helpful, so I now have my binder sort of set up. All three colors of my sweet peppers have now sprouted, and I am hopeful for colorful peppers this summer. I have to find and clean my wheelbarrow. Which doesn't seem like it should be difficult except you haven't seen our garage. I believe it is what inspired John Bunyan's "Pit of Despair". :D Time for pj's! luuknam 15,843
Btw, youngest moved up to a full size violin yesterday. :hurray: Wow, Lynn's 9yo is a giant. Or Lynn's signature is seriously outdated. Broccoli is almost big enough for a 1/4 size, but since a 1/8 size is so insanely much smaller, he's had a 1/4 size from the start (i.e. 3 months ago). I'm almost 5'4", and I probably would be best off with a 7/8 size, though full size works. Didn't get it until 12yo though (and incidentally, I quit growing at 12yo - had been 5'+ since about 9.5yo). Yay! Dd11's teacher said yesterday that it's time for dd to get a full size. These kids keep growing! Renai's kids are growing too - it's like an epidemic! Mine aren't. Celery is still like 4'3". I mean, I guess a year ago he was 4'2", and the year before that about 4', but still... hardly epidemic-level growth there.

luuknam 15,843
I don't think I mentioned that the other day Broccoli was playing outside, and came inside bringing me a bloody tooth, wanting me to help stop his mouth from bleeding. So, I try, and when I'm done, he's like, okay, now I need to go outside and find the other tooth. He lost two teeth at exactly the same time while playing outside. He did find it though. Oh, and he'd lost a 3rd one just a couple of days before (the one that had been loose for months). At the most recent checkup the dentist said that he'd loose 6 within 6 months, probably much sooner even, so, waiting to see if he'll lose 3 at once next time. (okay, in all fairness, I think he said that Celery hit him in the mouth that caused him to lose two at once, but still. He now looks like a reverse vampire, with holes instead of fangs)
