AMJ
I may need a sweet potato intervention. I've been eating them every morning for breakfast because they are warm, and not grain-based. I am burned out on eggs, and my other typical breakfast foods. Ideas of things I can eat? I'm needing to eat a little bit lower-protein because my bloodwork monitoring how I'm doing on my medication has been a bit off. How about something like this? https://foodess.com/samosa-potatoes/ You could even try making it with your sweet potatoes....

prairiewindmomma
Slache--I had to eat gluten for six weeks beforehand, at least two pieces of bread a day, according to the specialist. She wanted me good and inflamed if it was in fact an issue. If you have only been back on ten days and you have obvious issues going on, perhaps what you've done is sufficient. Really, sometimes the label helps, but if you know you have issues when you're on gluten, you should just avoid gluten, label or no label. The Dollar Tree pregnancy tests are highly accurate, and only $1, fwiw.

Jean in Newcastle
I am a bad puppy mommy and yelled at the dog. She had Neko cornered. Neko was doing a fine job yelling at her and hissing and swiping but me coming in like a banshee who was yelling that it would serve her right if she got a big ole' scratch is what did the trick. Sigh. I'm a puppy homeschooling failure. . . Now she's chewing on her squeaky stuffed duck (sorry Quackersh) and all is right in the world. And I left Neko to calm down in the quiet bedroom with the door closed so that puppy can't repeat the performance. So we're good. I'm just typing stream of consciousness style.

They don't love most of my ideas, projects, etc. They all speak English; one speaks a little bit of Spanish; three "speak" a little bit of ASL They are kind of polite. Their rooms are kind of clean. They cook chicken nuggets and spaghettios. Two or three can cook a few better things. They mostly get along. They sometimes fight. They don't usually sass. No community involvement. No interesting projects. No Ivies. No scholarships. :) :hurray: Way to go, Junie! Keepin’ it real.

But what if he wants to make them regular again!? Do not want! Alex is still a baby isn’t he? Did you nurse him and has he been weaned long? That could make your cycles weird. With my DD(10) I think her birth triggered my thyroid issues. My tsh was fine but I had hashimotos and my cycles were like 90 days+ and I thought I was infertile until a new Dr gave me something for my thyroid. I feel so much better taking the meds. Everyone kept telling me I was fine. Then Baby surprised us because that fixed things and we’d had 10 years of complacency.

I suppose I should bring it up. But what if he wants to make them regular again!? Do not want! If your progesterone is a bit low, you can choose to do nothing. I did that after one of my kids, when my cycles were irregular and running between 30-45 days. I became normal again after several months. I did have secondary infertility, but I didn't care because my first two were so close together. When it happened again after pregnancy #3, it was my thyroid. I took thyroid meds, but only because of other things (weight gain, etc.) going on. I still had a longer break between kids 3-4. #nobirthcontrol

You came to mind because Tor.com just posted a piece (all spoilers!) of the top five moments of the entire series... I'm having a really hard time getting into it. Right now I've got to get up the courage to make it through the prologue. I can't figure out why the city has been destroyed or if the bad guy is the one in the destroyed city or the one who comes to get the guy out of the destroyed city. It doesn't help that I really, really don't like prologues. But it's a fantasy classic, and I'm determined to make it through. Southern Ivy
Just popping in for an update - Dad is being transferred out of ICU and to another hospital. It is a specialized hospital with a "step down unit". The current hospital did not have a step-down unit and his doctors wanted him to have more supervision. This specialized hospital deals a lot with TBIs like his and they do aggressive therapies, which Dad needs. There are many signs that Dad is still "in there", like I was singing a hymn that he loves and he raised his eye brows and moved his head just like he would have to hit the note I was on (and he did it before I sang it...then I broke down sobbing because it was Dad shining through). Yesterday, he discovered his face again. It was just like a baby finding a new body part - constant touching and exploring. The nurse said that it's pretty common and that Dad's brain is pretty much rebooting, so he's relearning/discovering in certain capacities. Drs are pretty confident that he will have to learn to talk and walk again, but some things he DOES remember - he mouthed "I love you" to Mom today and he mouthed "get up" to the nurse and Mom. But, they also had him standing (with a tilted bed) and were working with him to wash his face. He couldn't understand the verbiage, but did great following visual clues. So, it'll take some time, but we'll get there!
Renai
Send them to my house, I don't teach grammar. They will be required to study Mandarin though. We're trying to study Mandarin... She just finished a six week course on Outschool, but we couldn't commit to the 30-45 minutes a day of studying she suggested so she got behind a little. She does remember the things she studied. Basically, the first poem out of three, and some, not all, of the characters in the poem. We're going back to Lingo Bus and the 25 minute lessons, and the 5-10 minute workbook pages, lol! There was a sale, and I bought a package. Doing one class a week, it'll last at least 4 months. Then, I'll probably have her retake Connie's (Xiaoling) class on Outschool sometime in the fall. Where German, ASL, and Japanese fit into all this, I do not know. Regardless, she's starting to read well in Spanish! She told me it was easier than English. :001_rolleyes:

I don’t assume something scary but something is probably messed up with your hormones that it would be much better to deal with.Buy a thermometer. They’re cheap. What do you take your kids temps with when they’re sick? I don't. If it was bad enough to check for a fever I would take them, but none of my kids have ever had fevers aside from teething.
