Chris in PA
Hi all, Since SWB does not have a modern world history text published yet, can anyone recommend a good book for my rising senior? I am looking for something to use as a spine that I will build literature, documentaries, etc around. Thanks Chris
katilac
I'm giving this answer all over the place today, lol: Humanistic Traditions by Gloria Fiero, published by McGraw Hill. Readily available used on Amazon. I paid about $10 each for the six volumes that make up the series. It is great for building around. Each chapter has illustrations of art work, music title suggestions, and literature excerpts. Some chapters we cover as is, just open and go. Others we add literature, documentaries, etc. If we wish to read an entire work, we obviously just skip the excerpt. You can also easily substitute a work from the same era/style. It's a college text with challenging vocabulary, imo, but very interesting and engaging.
