Why is our EFC so much lower this year?

Dh income is a little lower but other savings and financials are virtually the same. But our EFC is $4000 less this year.

(I'm a little annoyed at it because if our EFC had been just a *little* lower last year, ds could have gotten some really outstanding 4-year scholarships that are only available to incoming freshmen. Humph.)

Did your student have any income taken into account for last year's Efc?

No income. He has a small college fund (UTMA) which has the same amount in it now as it did a year ago. I wonder if it's because of what we paid out-of-pocket for the university this year? It wasn't that much, though, and only about 1/3 of what our EFC was last year.
