kagmypts
My daughter is going to finish her current science book by the end of next month, and I plan on doing an ecosystem/biome unit study with her for the last two months of school. Does anyone have any good resources or books to recommend? Thank you! On a somewhat related note, does anyone have a good resource for food chains/food webs? I would love to incorporate the role of producers, consumers, and decomposers into our study, but I don't have a good resource. ETA - DD is in fifth grade. 73349
This is an interesting (and inexpensive) resource. It has themes like diversity, interrelationships, structure and scale, systems, and patterns of change. And then there are biome book series at many libraries--mine carries the "Explore the..." books by Linda Tagliaferro and the "Web of Life" books by Philip Johansson. atozmom
I am wanting to do this with DS as well. I haven't sat down to really put it all together, but here are some resources that we already have and some that I liked at the library. Janice Van Cleave's Science Around the World: Activities on Biomes from Pole to Pole Amazing Biome Projects You Can Build Yourself A series of books by Rebecca Johnson (I'll just link a couple& there are a couple more titles to these series that I haven't listed) -A Walk in the Rain Forest -A Walk in the Deciduous Forest -A Walk in the Prairie -A Walk in the Tundra -A Walk in the Desert -A Journey into a Wetland -A Journey into an Ocean -A Journey into a River -A Journey into a Lake DK books Desert Around the Clock with the Animals of the Desert Rain Forest Ocean Arctic and Antarctic Also, in addition to the website that MommytoFour linked above, here were some others that I came across. http://kids.nceas.ucsb.edu/biomes/index.html https://kidskonnect.com/science/biomes/ I think this one had links within the page that I liked?? http://www.thewildclassroom.com/biomes/rainforest.html Ok, so still a work in progress. If I run across anything else, I'll post more.

kagmypts
Thank you for the additional sites! Thank you for your links as well. I was excited to see that my library carries the Rebecca Johnson series because they don't have any of the other titles that have been recommended here. I have requested that those books be transferred to my branch and cannot wait to read them next week.
