Southern Ivy
My friend is looking for one curriculum to use for both of her daughters (K and 2nd). I was thinking that there was a curriculum mentioned on here that could be used as the main curriculum and then scaffolded for both grades. Does anyone know of one? Or am I just hallucinating? Guest
That isn't possible for all subjects. The skill level of a K is vastly different than a 2nd grader. She can combine them for the 'fun' subjects, but she will still need to teach them the skill subjects at the kids' individual levels. 'Fun' curriculums we have enjoyed over the years are: Five in a Row {volumes 1-3 are about the same level. vol 4 cranks it up. Their forums are very helpful.} http://fiveinarow.com We also have used K12 Independent courses for combining for the fun subjects, as well. https://ecomm.k12.com/ecommerce/public/index.xhtml It is also possible to use Oak Meadow for combining. She could do so for all subjects. If she does, I would say start with 1st. http://oakmeadow.com Memoria Press K-2nd Enrichment guides are also VERY good. The K is not too young for the 2nd grader. http://www.memoriapress.com/curriculum/art-and-music-classical-core-curriculum/primary-resources HTH! Southern Ivy
I think she's thinking more science, history, and maybe some language arts. She's going to keep her current math curriculum. Thanks! I'll pass those links along.
Ellie
KONOS and the Weaver can both be used with multiple ages at the same time (Bible, history, geography, science, arts and crafts, drama, literature--everything except English skills and math). Coco_Clark
I know a family that combines a K and 2nd grader in Sonlight.
LaMere Academy
Yes, Build Your Library can be used by a range of ages for the main subjects and can be tweaked as needed.
