kfeusse
I have an old ipod that works, but the battery doesn't hold a charge very long. What can I do with it? I mean, I guess I could trash it...but is there a better thing to do with it?
MomtoCandJ
Use it with a docking station thingy? I don't know if those charge or not though
justasque
Is it an iPod Touch? Plug it in to the electricity, plug a speaker into it, and run Pandora all day for nice soothing background music.
Random
Is it an iPod Touch? Plug it in to the electricity, plug a speaker into it, and run Pandora all day for nice soothing background music. This is how my 1st generation iPod touch is still serving our family. We plug it into an iHome and listen to Pandora or Tune In Radio. Elfinlady
You can have the battery changed. This company does it: http://www.digiexpress.us/ . We've used them before and been pleased. In fact, we have an old ipod nano with them right now getting a battery change.
Suzanne in ABQ
You can change the battery yourself. They sell kits on Amazon that include the battery and the special tools you need to open the case and do the minimal disassembly required. If you can change a watch battery, you can change an iPod battery. You just need a magnifying glass and a steady hand.
fdrinca
We keep ours plugged into the car for audiobooks.
SebastianCat
We keep ours plugged into the car for audiobooks. This is what we do, except its usually seminars from our yearly homeschool convention rather than audiobooks....but audiobooks would be a great idea. Kerileanne99
We keep ours plugged into the car for audiobooks. Us too! I was forever forgetting mine or forgetting to load something we wanted. I packed it full of audiobooks just for the car and now leave it in there with the car charger.
kfeusse
i love the idea of using it for audiobooks in the car...what kind of cord do you use that actually will keep it charged while playing?

Ours is just a simple charger that plugs into the 'cigarette lighter' hole. It plays through the stereo system in the van. In our old van the stero was older so we bought this combination charger/radio adapter where it's loosed play of the IPod through the car's radio. I think it was about $20. fdrinca
We also figured out that if we load the iPod with Overdrive audiobooks, they don't automatically return at the end of the check-out period. (They do return when you connect the iPod to a computer.) This is probably common knowledge, but it surprised me when I realized we'd been listening to the same Beatrix Potter collection for a few months. Re: connector, we use a specialty iPod connector that we purchased at the dealership. Probably fleeced on that one! Our car has USB port, so we had to use a different type of connector.
