MrsMommy
I don't collect much anymore. When I was younger, my parents bought me a Precious Moments figurine for every birthday, and a music box for every Christmas. Honestly, most of both are still at my mom's house (and there are so many of each!), because I just have no place for breakables like that with five children running around! My husband buys me a new magnet every time he visits someplace new, and we're also building the Lego modular Main Street as it comes out, if that counts as a collection. I think my oldest son is trying to collect every Lego set ever made, although I don't have proof of it, and my oldest daughter collects stuffed bunnies. I think that's about it for us. Indian summer
My husband is trying to collect antique tractors. The full sized ones. :glare: Someone that lives about an hour from me collects real tractors. He has them displayed on his rural front lawn off the highway. He paints them to look brand new. He must have 20 or more. It's neat to see. Maybe he's planning to open a museum, who knows!
foxbridgeacademy
I have collected boxes for about 20 years. Preferably made of some unique material and with something unique about them. A couple years ago I got some squirrel ornaments for our Christmas tree. Then I saw these really cute squirrel salt/pepper shakers that were orange. I now have about 20 sets of S/P shakers, most of them woodland animals and only one, a 3 piece set is in actual use(salt/pepper/spice salt). My DD has a collection of littlest Petshops that her 8 y.o. cousin is hoping DD will outgrow soon. Nope, she got 3 new ones for Christmas (DH, DS, and I all get her 1 each). She's up to around 200 "pets" now. She plans on giving them to her own children one day. My BIL collects crocks with the lids that are held down by metal wires. He's got the 20 or so on display, the rest are put away in a closet. I almost forgot, I seem to be collecting books/textbooks about history, I have 48 on "display" (aka in the bookcase) (about 10 on British History). My Science book collection is 41 actual books plus about 30 magazines. There's probably another 1-2 boxes full of science and history books in the garage. The Girls' Mom
Someone that lives about an hour from me collects real tractors. He has them displayed on his rural front lawn off the highway. He paints them to look brand new. He must have 20 or more. It's neat to see. Maybe he's planning to open a museum, who knows! My dh would love that. He has two so far, and his uncle who lives next door has an old hit or miss that they play with together...lol.

LucyStoner
Pear art. By accident mind you, by accident. It's become a little joke. Odd thing is, no one in this family cares for pears that much. Go figure.
Artichoke
We collect Christams tree ornaments from our travels and seas shells. Dd collects the pressed pennies that you can make at touristy places and postcards. I used to collect vintage homemaking books, but I 've stopped now that so many of them are available online. SageRebel
I've started collecting stuffed animals since being in the hospital. The kids know they are mine, and I will take awesome ones of theirs and keep them. I collect animals of all kinds real ones. I had a llama once he was my tall dark and handsome! I had a pony that kicked me so hard I think I swallowed my kidney. I even had a friend offer to by me a pig. Books. I love books so much!!! Everyone here has to deal with my books and my dh never can build me enough shelves. A new one means I need another new one. I have more books than my local library, and its a very small town so I am not tooting my horn to hard. I collect kisses and keep them in my heart. I collect things I have lifted from my mom and she does the same with me. Its like hey that was my shirt. I know its not cool but if I love you I will steal a piece of your clothing(shirts-Im not creepy). Maybe that an Aspergers thing? toilet paper rolls, egg cartens, butcher paper, cereal boxes because art class! Teapots-I have all girls and love a good tea party. The Dew is a pack-rat who has so many collections she is starting to look like her mother or dad lets just blame him-k. The Deet is collecting my sanity and patience as she steals it away. The Dawn just collects hugs and snuggles.
jak of in
A few more things I collect that I forgot to add earlier is pottery coffee mugs, preferably directly from the potter. My DH made me a mug shelf to display them in my kitchen. I love them! Also, we get decks of cards as cheap souvenirs. My DD use to collect stuffed monkeys, mostly TY beanie baby monkeys and the pressed souvenir pennies. My DH has been collecting crucifixes that he finds at Goodwill. As I've gotten older, I am more choosy in adding more to my collections....I want to really love each piece I display.

Jaz
Christmas ornaments. Anything sentimental that I want to keep, I turn into a Christmas ornament. My son's name tags from the summer camp he adores? Stick a hook in them, and they are ornaments. The ribbon from the bouquet I caught at a friend's wedding 20 years ago? A rice bag from my own wedding? Yep. Tags from the collar of our beloved late golden retriever. We ooh and ahhh over them every Christmas, and then we pack them up January 1. Every family trip gets a souvenir ornament. I love Christmas and hate clutter. This is perfect for me. This is a fabulous idea! I collect Christmas ornaments from our trips.
